In the Letter, The DA and LGBT opposed and condoned Pride Month on Religious grounds and when Duncan Questioned Philani, The editor of The Mercury on why it was not published and pointed out that the publication allowed a previous letter by Mohammed Saeed on the burning of the Qur'an to be published. Citing,"Just as burning the Qur'an is unacceptable not only in terms of religious belief but in terms of educated, civilised conduct, so brazen perversion of morality warrants reproach in the same way." This was their reply 👇🏼 Hi Dr Du Bois. Thank you for seeking clarity regarding the non-publication of your letter. I believe that your letter is discriminatory to the LGBT community and I will not allow you to use The Mercury platform to perpetuate hate against a particular group.
