Could Coinbase, Robinhood, and Circle score big off the SEC?
According to Goldman Sachs and Citizens, the SEC’s 5-year tokenized stock pilot could open more upside for these 3 names:
• Coinbase already has custody, tokenization infra, and the Base chain. The current snag: Coinbase runs an order book, while the SEC wants trading via AMM.
• Robinhood already has tokenized stocks outside the US, but not full real shareholder rights. To roll it out in the US, they need to add dividends, voting rights, and the ability to redeem tokens for actual shares.
• Circle could benefit if USDC gets used for settlement and as collateral in onchain trades.
That said, the pilot is still narrow — capped on volume, number of stocks, and companies can refuse tokenization.
=> In the short term, TradFi venues like Nasdaq and NYSE still aren’t under much competitive pressure.
