A major b2b data provider is looking for a Senior Java Engineer with solid experience in architecting, designing and maintaining java-based backend applications. You will work closely with our other senior engineers and will get full ownership of one or more projects. Besides that you will guide and mentor a group of more junior developers to ensure best-practices, solid architecture and reliable code is delivered. To be successful in this role, you need to have a very solid understanding of Core Java and the usage of Java in REST API’s. We expect our leads to be able to resolve performance bottlenecks around memory, cpu or database usage and we rely on them to build solid high-performance API’s and solutions. What You’ll Be Doing: • Hands on Full Stack Java development contributing to major components and/or services across multiple application tiers with a particular focus on a scalable, reliable and secured back end • System architecture, design and infrastructure decisions primarily focused on our REST API, JAVA Service Stack and Back end Data Tiers. Optionally contributing to our Web front end • Own one or more components of our infrastructure and be responsible for its implementation and performance • Work with Product Owner and VP of Engineering in an agile iterative manner – groom stories, break epics into achievable stories, size them and implement/test/deploy them. • Help troubleshooting/supporting/solving production issues • Strong, positive engineering culture • Advocate for and apply solid architecture/design principles and best practices to ensure code quality • Work collaboratively with the rest of our talented Software Engineering Team as well as our Data Engineers and Scientists, Product, UI/UX, Sales and Marketing teams. Qualifications: B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical major, or equivalent experience Solid Experience enterprise-scale software development in a Java/J2EE environment Development expertise in the following: Java Hibernate, JPA or other ORM frameworks Spring Framework REST Web services SQL / relational database development NOSQL / MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis Demonstrated object oriented design skills and a passion for code quality Prior Agile (Scrum, XP) development experience preferred A high degree of reliability, flexibility, and adaptability Strong verbal and written communication skills Detail oriented with excellent follow-up skills Experience with leading or guiding a team of more junior developers.
