When the multitude that came to Jesus had been fed, He left for the other side of the sea. The people searched for Him and found Him. Jesus told them they were looking for Him because they had eaten bread and were satisfied. He encouraged them to seek the food that leads to eternal life, which only the Son of Man could give.
The people asked what they should do to perform the works of God. Jesus answered that they should believe in Him whom God had sent. They then requested a sign, reminding Him that their forefathers ate manna in the wilderness. Jesus explained that the manna was temporary food, but God had now sent the true Bread from heaven that gives life to the world.
