USLLS College Review fo by Sanjeevani @smidha03 ( A second year student at USLLS) :- 1. Yearly fees - around 1.2 lakh per year (refer to the admission brochure for exact details as the fee varies every year) 2. Hostel fees - around 80k per year. Hostel is decent. There are single occupancy rooms only. No AC's in rooms. You can install your own room coolers. Food is decent. Entry timings for girls is 9 PM. (Boys don't have a curfew time, unfortunately.) It's easy for girls to get the hostel. Outside delhi candidates are given 1st priority for alloting rooms. If still rooms are left, they consider the delhi students as well based on their residential proximity from the college. 3. As you guys will be having honors, you have to study 7 subjects. Classes are generally held from 9 am to 4 pm. Some strict teachers can extend it to 5 but that happens only once or twice a week. There are 10 semesters ie. 2 sems per year. The syllabus of all ip colleges is same. Scoring in exams is not that hard, a 2 hourly daily study can get u a cgpa of above 9. However, exams in ip are not made to test the actual caliber of a student. The biggest lesson that i have learnt till now is go through additional textbooks and commentaries on every subject to get an edge over your batchmates in terms of knowledge. It might not help u get extremely high grades over your batchmates but it's surely going to help you in the professional space. Don't run behind internships that aren't worth your time. (We can discuss the internships aspect in detail later on. That's another whole chapter completely) Pros:- 1. Location. Delhi is literally the place with the most amount of exposure for a law student. 2. Cells like adrc, inmcs and other societies and clubs are really very active. 3. Beautiful lush green campus unlike vips (contact @⁨Shaleen Bareja⁩ for rants on the small campus size of vips.. Lol) 4. Internship and placement opportunities are provided by the placement cell. For detailed review refer to the Above texts that i sent yesterday. 5. Ample opportunities for participating in moots and adr competitions is provided by the university. Recently, a team from our college also went to vis moot and was in the top 70 teams globally. 6. There is a mixed lot of students, they opt for almost all the career options arising out of law like litigation, corporate, judiciary, higher education, in-house, so you will get ample diversity of seniors to interact with. 7. Huge alumni base in law firms, litigation chambers, so better networking opportunities. Cons:- 1. Though attendance of 70 percent is a mandate from this year and you need to maintain that otherwise u will land up in trouble, I feel that the quality of teaching is not upto the mark. Some teachers are very proficient in their subjects but some are, in my humble OPINION not easy to understand. Would give a 5 on 10 for the faculty aspect. 2. Placements are not that great. Though firms are coming, students go for offcampus placements as they are better paying. 3. A bit of in-campus exposure is lacking. Can be more active with organising events that making the students interact with the established professionals in the field. USLLS Review - Review of Internship and placements in USLSS by Sanjeevani @smidha03 ( A second year student at USLLS) 1. Okay see, being a member of internship and placement cell, I can say that the cell is working hard to get internship slots for the students of all years... Tier 1 firms like JSA and ASG's have also given internship slots to the college,but again as the number of slots are limited, the cell has a whole interview process in place to select students. 2. By the time you guys graduate the cell would be In a much better position and will have many leads to provide you internships. 3. And regarding placements, even if the cell is providing with Not-so-good-paying internships, they are helping you intern in tier 1 firms, go there, work properly, if they like your work they will give u a job offer. 4. And even the placement situation will be much improved by the time you graduate. The faculty coordinator of the internship and placement cell is herself the dean now. She is really pro-active and we are working hard on that front. 5. So relax a bit. Delhi gives u ample opportunities to intern and get placed. 6. And no body will spoon feed u...
