Very serious and interesting events unfolded in Israel in the last 24-48 hours. Hamas from Gaza initiated a massive terror attack on the nation. The scale of this attack is rather mind boggling. But the most interesting part of all is that the Israeli military was no where to be found for the first hours. The terrorist were able to tear down border walls and come across unchecked to murder hundreds of civilians. No one even knows how many are dead at this point. I’m not sure what to make of all this since Israel has probably one of the most sophisticated and highly trained intelligence and security forces in the world. And the terrorist are still coming in the country as we speak!🤔🤔🤔 this reeks of leadership incompetence or even treason. In the recent past the political left in Israel has infiltrated the military leadership and has threatened to shut down the military after Benjamin Netanyahu became prime minister. I don’t know if that is what we seen today or not. I’m sure in the near future we will have some more info. Pray for Israel there are so many dead and so many captured by Hamas. These poor people that were captured would be better off dead. They are being paraded through the streets in Gaza, being stripped, brutalized and raped. All on public display. Even the bodies of the dead are being put on display. God gave us all a free will and I am sure he allowed this to happen. But remember that Israel is the land of his chosen people and he made a covenant with them. The God I know keeps his covenants. So the near future will be fascinating at a minimum.

Our little guy is almost ready to come home. Tomorrow can’t come soon enough. Yesterday and today have been exhausting as every nurse from his team is coming in and going over all the Dow and donts. Seems like there’s a line outside the door waiting their turn!🫣😂 but we are so ready to be out of here.

Praise the Lord we are coming home. We will be getting discharged on Thursday morning. Today has been a rat race of doctors and nurses coming in and out making sure everything is in order. We have lost track of what all is going on!😁😁😒 but we know that soon we will be out of here!❤️❤️😜

This is a account one of our friends set up so people can share and help us out if they want. Lucy does not have insurance so we will have those costs on our own. Asher is covered but his insurance has a large deductible. So not sure how all that will work out. But God has been faithful through the years and I know he will continue to be! So from yesterday we are still getting information. Good news is there’s a lot of positive talk of discharging us this week yet, with follow up appointments down here. They are still watching his heart and it has not yet healed properly. They seem to think that it’s not a problem but are still evaluating it. On his feeding, they will be training us on his tube so that we can come home and take care of him from there. We are apprehensively waiting on more news. Trying not to get to excited about going home before it’s official so we don’t get disappointed if things change. But still remaining hopeful!😁😁 we appreciate prayers as the day goes on and we find out more.

Today is a big day for us. Asher is having 2 major tests. First will be another heart echo. If he passes this one he would be considered ready for discharge. The second one is a suck, swallow, breathe test. This will check his process of eating. If he passes this test we will be cleared to continue working on his breast feeding. If he fails he would have to go to complete feeding off of his ng tube. Either way if his heart checks out ok they would teach us how to feed him through his tube and we could go home and continue from there. We would appreciate many prayers as these tests come up later today.

Good morning. Just a brief update on Asher. Yesterday they removed his oxygen. And he is holding good on his own with that. So that is awesome. Now the only serious thing left is his feeding tube. He is still struggling in this area. It feels we have lost all progress that he had made. We are only able to feed him twice per day aside from the tube. On Monday we have a special test coming up to see how he is eating. The nurses and doctors are concerned that his airway is at risk of being compromised when he eats. We won’t know more until that test is completed. Other than that our little boy is growing and is such a joy in our lives. We praise God for the progress so far and continue to pray for his feeding.

Yesterday I came back down to Iowa city to spend the weekend with my little family. The day before yesterday was full of good news. He was moved out of the cubicle in the nicu to a room where we can stay with him, his heart is still looking good, his kidneys look good, his lungs are developing as they should, his oxygen was reduced and will hopefully be removed today. Basically the only thing that continues is his struggle to eat enough to sustain himself. Pray he can continue to grow stronger and eat more on his own!❤️❤️

I came home from Iowa city this morning and my mom is down there with Lucy. Pray for my dear wife as she spends her days with our child. It is tough to be in that hospital day after day. Trying to feed him and taking care of our little man. She is a true legend!❤️❤️

Hey all little update on Asher. He is still in the nicu in Iowa city. Yesterday his feeding improved and he has been able to nurse a little bit is still struggling to get his full feedings consistently. So we rejoice for the improvement but pray for more strength. They continue to monitor his heart and that still seems to be looking good. Yesterday the genetics team confirmed to us that he is Down’s syndrome. This obviously wasn’t a big surprise to us as we had been prepared for the news and were just waiting on that confirmation. We love our little boy and are excited for our future with him. To grow with him and walk with him as he develops into a young man. He is such a sweet little miracle and he is our Asher!❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰

Yesterday they removed Asher’s iv. This was a cause for much rejoicing. He continues to struggle to eat enough on his own. So he gets over half of his food via a feeding tub that goes down through his nose. He is gaining weight which is a huge relief!

A little update from Asher. Around mid day yesterday the nurses came in and said they are putting Asher on a little supplemental oxygen. This was due to his oxygen levels in his hand reading a bit low. This was a bit of a set back for us. It feels like we take one step forward and one step back. It seems every day there is one more tube we have to work around when we want to hold him. We still rejoice in the news of his heart but continue to pray for more positive changes soon!

Last night Lucy and I got a hotel about 10 minutes from the hospital. We left Asher with the nurses as we went to get our first night of sleep since his birth. We are reunited with our little boy and currently feeding him!🥰😘

We just got news. And it is a time to rejoice. Our Asher’s little heart seems to be 100% ok. He has a small hole that is common in most babies and it is healing close and they believe there is no reason to believe it won’t heal properly. Now the only concern that remains is his feeding. We are working to help him with that and keep improving.
