| 2 | The day you feel "settled" in your preparation — re-reading the same notes, avoiding new topics, skipping mocks — that's the day you start falling behind.
Stay uncomfortable. The exam won't go easy on you just because your routine did.

| 3 | Nobody but the commission is privy to the events(I don't want to use the word circus) happening in the backend.
Results will come eventually, but the Mains exam date remains a fixture.
Don't waste your time in results speculation. If you're staying in the cyle, prepping for Mains is the only way forward till Jan End atleast. You want to keep prepping for Pre and waste another year to realise the mistake I'm warning you about, be my guest.
PS: On student request, postponing the first SPARK LAB session. Scheduling it to 3-4 days post the result date anyway, keep aggregating basic content and start answer writing without wasting more time.
All academic questions can be continued on the relevant channels.
Best wishes.

| 4 | The person who started this preparation and the person sitting here today — they're not the same.
Every tough mock, every rejection, every sleepless night has quietly shaped your patience, clarity, and resilience. UPSC doesn't just select officers — it builds them.

| 5 | Mouth — stop announcing your targets to people who secretly want you to fail.
Mind — one negative Telegram group can undo a week of good preparation.
Mood — don't let a bad mock on Tuesday ruin your study plan till Saturday.
Money — that expensive test series won't help if free NCERT chapters are still unread.
Control these four and this journey becomes half as hard.

| 7 | Que Sera Sera: Whatever will be, will be
I see 95%+ tele channels using 'insider info' as baits for engagement and then selling you something. Alas they know, "Fear is the best salesman".
But they can't be solely blamed for it. 'Morality is how we think the world works, economics is how it actually works'.
I believe that a lot of things we think we 'own', they're really not ours, most of them are a human construct.
What is really realy primally ours, can be counted on your own fingers with at max 7-8 artifacts falling into that realm. One of the most imp thing that we 'own' and that determines the quality of our life is:
OUR ATTENTION
So don't sell that commodity on the cheap if you really want to be 'fulfilled' in life. Results will eventually come, maybe tom, maybe next week. But you don't need to go through the continous dread of ball by ball commentary.
Whatever is the best for you, almighty will provide that. Beyond the results, will connect on a meet with all to help you chart the future course of action, whatever the results maybe.
Kay Sera Sera : Jo bhi Ho so Ho (from the indian version with a misplaced spelling)

| 8 | Notice how the worst thoughts always come after 11 PM — when the books are closed and the phone is open. That's when the comparisons start, the regret creeps in, the "am I wasting my life" spiral begins.
The antidote isn't positivity. It's a packed schedule. When your day is full of reading, writing, and revising, there's simply no room left for the darkness to sit down.

| 10 | Library to PG. PG to library. No weekend plans, no birthday parties, no "let's catch up" calls. Just you, your notes, and the silence of a room that nobody visits anymore.
It looks lonely from outside. From inside, it's called focus.

| 11 | Treat your preparation the same way. While you're in this — give it everything. Every subject, every revision, every boring CSAT practice session.
But if a strategy isn't working after honest effort, drop it without guilt. Loyalty to a bad plan is not dedication — it's stubbornness. Know when to commit and when to walk away.
@UPSCneil | 3 177 |
| 12 | You shared your notes and they shared them with the whole batch without asking. You helped someone with their answer writing and they didn't even check on you after your result.
Stay helpful. Stay kind. Just stop giving your energy to people who treat it like it's free and unlimited. Some of that kindness — save it for yourself.

| 13 | Thich Nhat Hanh, in a commentary on the Sutra, explained: “Buddha always advised his disciples not to waste time and energy on metaphysical reasoning. Whenever he was asked a metaphysical question, he remained silent. Instead, he directed his disciples toward practical efforts. Once, when Buddha was asked about the problem of the infinity of the world, he said, “Whether the world is finite or infinite, limited or boundless, the problem of your liberation remains the same.” On another occasion, he said, "Suppose a person has been hit by a poisoned arrow, and the doctor wants to remove the arrow immediately. Suppose the person does not want to remove the arrow until he knows who shot it, his age, his parents, and why he shot it. What will happen? If he waited until he got answers to all these questions, he might die first." Life is so short. It cannot be wasted on endless metaphysical arguments that do not bring us any closer to the truth.””
I believe in the same principles for UPSC. Life is short. Focus on PYQ orientation. Read as much as is required to fulfil the demand of the paper and live a fulfilling life on the side.
I see innocent students wasting their lives here with the unfortunate self rationalisation: “My UPSC knowledge will never go to waste, it will help in life”. Your youth shouldn’t be someone else’s failed experiment to realise the simple truth about this exam. You either give yourself the best chance, or you don’t; and the best chance goes through PYQ orientation.
Fancy rationalisations won’t change the reality.

| 20 | You missed one day of study and called yourself lazy. Scored 90 in a mock and said "bas itna hi?" Finished the syllabus once but felt it wasn't enough.
You're harder on yourself than any examiner will ever be. The mind you're using to crack this exam also deserves a break, a kind word, and some rest.
