In case you have not taken the above poll and can't see the results, 20 people responded saying they can change their registration record on the internet this includes the Party designation. I don't know how many states that represents. I find this to be outrageous. You simply have to attest to the accuracy of the data change and enter for example, a birth date and last four of SSN or some other personal information like that. No multi factor authentication, no bot protection, no passwords, no account verification....Is that legal?

On the above post, I want re-iterate one point made in the presentation, this is not the fault of the good people who work for the Clerk's office. Be nice to those people, they are good Americans just following procedures.

Folks you have to watch this. Let me summarize it for you. The Tabulators that count the mail in ballots are controlled by an algorithim. That is what the data here is showing. So that is it folks for this case study on the Togglers. I am going to focus behind the scenes with the canvass group on this special subset and see what comes of it. The goal is to use whatever resources are at your disposal to focus on potential problems given oddities in the data that don't make sense. EDA and TPDA can help you do that. There is a special subset of Togglers who live together and look to be married couples, 60 of them to be exact. The amazing thing is that they Toggle together, same dates, same values.

To recap the baseline for those of you who may not have been following along, this is a county of about 250,000 people and I am looking at 5 time periods over six months, specifically at the Party affiliation changes through time. Here are are basic counts of the number of affiliation changes. 550 voters changed the registration once, 7 twice, then 953 three times and finally 4 four times in 6 months.

Step 1: Identify your population of interest on the registration roll. I used a county with about ~250,000 registrants. Next, run the EDA analysis for the entire county and set the file aside. Step 2: Obtain four additional sets of registration data for that same county at intervals you determine. Mine were 1-2 months apart for 6 months. Step 3: This is the hard part because I have not released the algorithim I used to identify Party Togglers in the TPDA file, but, you might be able to figure something out. Using the 5 registration rolls, find the Voter IDs that Toggle Party or change Party between successive Periods. Use the Period 1 Voters IDs as your primary key to track these changes through time. Step4: Extract the subset of Party Togglers from this ad hoc analysis. Step 5: Go back to the original EDA file now and using the Filter01 tab, extract out ALL of the data on those Voter IDs. Step 6: Run a second EDA analysis on that subset of Party Togglers. Step 7: Using the MapIt tab on the second EDA file, assign ALL of the IDs a Type. Now you are done and can look at the output to help inform how you want Canvass or follow up in others ways with the BOE. The EDA files can also be used to generate canvass walk lists.
