Morning, on the terrace in front of the mountain hut. The ermine family that had been bustling around the hut since yesterday paid us another visit this morning. They made an appearance right in front of us. Talk about taking advantage of every little gap! They kept poking their faces out from every single crevice they could find. It’s not often that you come across these little guys. This is a striped polecat. He was found on the road in the baking sun. The kind people that found him did move him to safety and waited to see if the mum would return but unfortunately she didn’t. Now he will be with us at Umoya until he is old enough to survive in the wild on his own. We believe he is about a week old as his eyes and ears are still closed.
