📌Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG)
📌Main Points 👇🔹1st:- The Comptroller and Auditor General is appointed by the President of India and can be removed from office only in the manner and on the grounds that a Judge of the Supreme Court is removed. 🔹2nd:- The person appointed to this office should take an oath of office before the President or any other person appointed by the office of the President. 🔹3rd:- The salary, service conditions, leaves of absence, pension and age of retirement are determined by the Parliament of India and specified in the Second Schedule such that the service conditions and salary will not be modified to the disadvantage of the incumbent during their tenure. 🔹4th:- The CAG is not eligible for any further office after the end of their tenure either in the Government of India or any State Government. 🔹5th:- The administrative expenses of the office of CAG, including salaries, allowances and pensions serving in that office are charged up on the Consolidated Fund of India.Thus they are not subjected to the vote of Parliament.

✔️Main Points 👇🔹1st:- It is a financial parliamentary committee. 🔹2nd:- It was set up first in 1921 under Government of India act 1919. 🔹3rd:- It consists of 22 members (15-Lok Sabha , 7- Rajya Sabha). A minister cannot be its member. 🔹4th:- The term of office of the members is one year. The members are elected by the Parliament every year from amongst its members. 🔹5th:- Its chairman is appointed by Speaker of LS. 🔹6th:- FUNCTION:--To examine the annual audit reports of the CAG. CAG acts as a guide, friend, philosopher of the committee. 🔹7th:- Limitations:- It is not concerned with the questions of policy in broader sense. 🔹8th:- Its recommendations are advisory and not binding on the ministries. 🔹9th:- It conducts a post-mortem examination of accounts.
