Subject Verb Agreement | English Lesson | Common Grammar Mistakes

SUBJECT-VERB AGREEMENT is one of the most common mistakes that English learners make! It's so easy to forget that the verb form in English sentences changes, depending on the subject! - I AM hungry... - She IS thirsty... - They ARE fighting... - We HAVE been travelling - It HAS been so long. - She DOESN'T know... - You DON'T know... - They LIKE to travel. - She LIKES to travel. This English lesson will help you to review subject-verb agreement rules and fix your English grammar mistakes! I will also explain how these rules work in more complicated sentences. For example: sentences where the subject is a noun phrase, or where the subject and the verb are separated by a relative clause. ---------- TIMESTAMPS ---------- 00:00 Introduction 01:30 Subject verb agreement problems 02:40 Plurals 03:56 Third-person 04:32 Auxiliary verb 05:30 Modal verbs 07:00 Indefinite pronouns 07:23 Compound subjects 09:15 Group nouns 11:19 Finding the subject #mmmEnglish #SubjectVerbAgreement #CommonGrammarMistakes #YouTubeTeacher #EnglishWithEmma Read the full transcript to this video on my blog:

#IELTS #writing #taskone The provided is a bar graph detailing the proportions of car owners in a certain European nation over the course of 3 decades (1991-2001). Overall, it can be observed that the number of families with no cars in this nation relatively decreased, whereas the opposite was true for single car owners there. In addition, having two or more cars also became appealing to the most coming to the end. It is worth noting that, people owning a car for a household showed a remarkable change during the whole period. Its share recorded an overall rise from 35% initially to over 45% in 1991 before it lowered to around 43% which was the highest in 2001 although there was a slight decline in its share over the first decade to about 30%. An almost similar case was experienced in the case of owning 2 or more cars, here. A notable increase was seen in its figure from approximately 15% toward 27% during the first ten years then having fluctuation at around this mark closed the whole period. Reversely, there was a considerable decline in the number of households who had no cars at all. The figure for this sector, however, witnessed a significant decline from the highest 47% at the beginning of the span to almost equal numbers with those who had over two cars. (224) @motive_english

#ielts #writing 📃Topic: In many countries, the average age of people is increasing. What are the effects of this trend on society and what measures can be taken to reduce the impact of aging populations? 🖌️Essay: The increasing average age of the population in many countries is a significant demographic trend. This essay will discuss the effects of an aging population on society and propose measures to mitigate the impact. One of the primary effects of an aging population is the increased demand for healthcare services. As people age, they are more susceptible to chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and arthritis. This leads to a higher need for medical care and treatment, placing a strain on healthcare systems. Additionally, there is an increased prevalence of mental health issues, such as dementia and depression, which require specialized care and rehabilitation services. Another significant impact is the economic burden on society. With a larger proportion of elderly people, there is a smaller working-age population to support them through taxation. This can lead to higher taxes and increased government spending on pensions and healthcare. Furthermore, the rise in chronic conditions and the need for preventative care to manage these illnesses add to the financial strain. To address these challenges, several measures can be implemented. Firstly, promoting good nutrition and regular physical activity can help prevent many chronic diseases. Encouraging a healthy lifestyle from a young age can reduce the prevalence of obesity and other health issues later in life. Additionally, increasing awareness about the importance of mental health and providing accessible mental health services can improve the quality of life for the elderly. Vaccination programs are also crucial in maintaining the health of an aging population. Immunity to infectious diseases can prevent epidemics and pandemics, which can disproportionately affect older adults. Regular check-ups and early diagnosis of health conditions can lead to more effective treatments and reduce long-term healthcare costs. Furthermore, policies that support a longer working life can help alleviate some of the economic pressures. Flexible working arrangements and retraining programs can enable older adults to remain in the workforce longer, contributing to the economy and reducing the dependency ratio. In conclusion, the increasing average age of populations presents several challenges, including higher healthcare demands and economic burdens. However, through preventative care, promotion of healthy lifestyles, vaccination, and supportive policies for older workers, the impact of an aging population can be effectively managed. By addressing these issues proactively, societies can ensure a higher quality of life for their elderly citizens and maintain economic stability. @motive_english
