Repost from Super Stocks Investors
What Can We Learn from SM Tharman and Apply It To Investing?
Even in the corporate world, David sometimes masquerades as Goliath, while the true Goliath plays the David card. Case in point: in a recent public address, Singapore's Senior Minister Tharman, a presidential hopeful, deployed a strategy favored by the titans of the tech industry.
Let's dive into that a bit.
Picture this: you're the owner of a fledgling restaurant and you're on the hunt for investors.
You spin a captivating, quirky tale, claiming, "We're the only purveyor of authentic Indian street food in all of Chinatown." Impressive, right? But hold on. Chinatown's market is diminutive and isn't the hotspot for Indian cuisine - that's Little India. So you've cleverly contracted the scope of the market to amplify your apparent significance.
This is nothing but an illusion.
The corporate leviathans, like Google, on the other hand, consistently downplay their dominance. The reason? Dominance invites unwanted governmental scrutiny and regulation.
Consequently, it's in their best interest to misrepresent their market share.
So, Google doesn't label itself as an advertising titan. Instead, it opts for the more ambiguous "technology company," allowing it to pit itself against Apple in the TV/phone sphere, Microsoft in office productivity tools, and Facebook in advertising. This makes them look like a company operating in an industry filled with competitors.
SM Tharman, a seasoned politician with a 22-year career, commands respect from even his adversaries. Despite this, he recently made a statement, positioning himself as the dark horse of the presidential race: "I make no assumptions about my chances in this race," he said, adding, "This is not a political contest, this is about choosing the right person."
He subtly casts himself as the "underdog" and deflects attention away from party lines, urging voters to choose based on merit, not political affiliations.
Now, circling back to the world of investing: The crux of any investment analysis lies in discerning whether a company genuinely holds a monopoly or is merely donning the guise of one.
Today, I “kicked” out one of my clients from our group coaching call this evening.
Why?
No, it’s not because he was toxic etc, but because he had some of the BEST work ethic I’ve seen.
However, he just finished an entire day of mastermind that folks paid $30,000 to be part of (yes and many others who’ve invested similar amounts still work with us!) and I knew his brain would have been fried.
And so, after a quick clarification of his focus moving forward, I asked him to leave the session so he can rest and recharge.
Why was I able to do this?
Easy. I place the client first.
My ego or pride is not caught up on whether you attend my sessions or not.
Sometimes, the best thing you can do is to recharge or just implement.
If it serves you even better, then go for it.
Whatever it takes for you to succeed.

How I Achieved the Best Month for my Business this Year (despite spending less time than Ever!)
It's official.
Amidst all the wedding prep, fears of recession/inflation, and pessimism, aka one of the busiest & uncertain periods in my life,
I had the highest-performing month ever for my business in May - despite spending less time than usual.
THIS IS HOW I DID IT!
A Quote that I'll Remember for the Rest of my Life.
If you want to build something great,
You must have a LOW tolerance for Pain,
& a HIGH tolerance for Uncertainity.
This just means...
You cannot procastinate on handling your biggest problems & issues.
This means you need to embrace the discomfort, look to rip off the band aid ASAP, so you can continue moving forward & not let anything holding you back.
At the same time, you'll need to understand that no matter what happens, there will ALWAYS be ups & downs in your journey.
Things won't always go the way you want, and you'll need to prepare for unexpected surprises every now & then.
And more importantly, be ok with the fact that no matter what you do, you can never be 100% confident of achieving your goals all the time.
And by having NOT tolerating problems but being OKAY with the fact that they will always happen -
That's how you can continue to grow, evolve, and achieve the results you are looking for.
DONT BE CRAZY AHHH.
I will never ask you to transfer me money Liddat
Don’t believe any group or people who sound like me to ever ask for you to do it k?
If your business / side hustle is making <$150k a year...here's what I learnt that could help you.
You MUST prioritise sales & marketing.
Because no matter how perfect your product is, how strategic and wonderful your plan is, or how much you have researched the market,
Nothing can beat going out there, offering your product/service to the market, and either 1) making $$, or 2) getting valauble lessons.
Every single day, are you doing any of these?
- DMing & Prospecting
- Creating valuable content & providing CTAs
- Preparing for launch or evergreen campaigns
- Reaching out to folks for partnerships/engagements
- Following up with past folks you've talked with
- Find traffic sources that have the people you want to work with (e.g. FB groups, forums, communities, etc.)
Chances are, most people don't do this DAILY.
Stop avoiding the most important activities - it's ok to get rejected, not get results when you are starting out, and feeling quite bad about it at times - that's totally normal.
But these are the activities that WILL get you results.
“You were quite stupid for starting your own business.”
Starting my own business wasn't exactly a popular choice among some of my close friends and family.
They thought I was crazy for giving up a stable, well-paying job just to dive headfirst into the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship.
They couldn't understand why I would willingly subject myself to all the stress, headaches, and financial risks.
But here's the thing: I had my reasons. I had this burning desire to live a life without regrets.
So, here I am now, sharing my journey and helping entrepreneurs like you succeed.
I've been through the ups and downs, experienced personal growth, and achieved some exciting milestones.
If you're feeling overwhelmed or unsure about your own entrepreneurial path, don't worry—I've got your back.
Drop me a DM and let me know how I can help you best.
Sincerely,
Marc

Be careful of taking up projects & collaborations too hastily.
Recently, I took up a private consulting project which I was so excited for.
And even before we decided to clarify expectations & responsibilities, we proceeded with the work already.
The problem is as we went deeper into the project, there were issues with getting clear on who did what, what's the scope, expectations etc.
That led to loads of inefficiencies which could have been easily avoided.
Lesson Learnt?
Don't be too hasty in saying yes to projects, be SUPER PROTECTIVE of your time, energy & focus and before taking up projects, be sure to clarify what is exactly needed from you.
This is how you can move forward easier too.
P.S. And, instead of blaming or feeling bad about this, I took full responsibility for this because it's always better to do that instead of blaming and victimising.
This way, you get to learn & grow the most as well.
Here's how you can 10X your progress & results.
Simple - do less instead of more.
Only focus on the 20% that gives you 80% of the results.
Look at your current projects, activities, and priorities you've been working on for the past 6 months.
Cut down on all those that don't provide you results.
I do this about every quarter, but I plan to cut it down to a month.
How about you?
Here's the ABSOLUTE worst statement in the world...
You see, one of the main qualities I've observed about many successful & rich people, they don't take no for an answer immediately.
If it's important enough, they always find what's possible and go for it.
At least they wouldn't regret not trying at all:)
To your success, Marc

Are you a starting entrepreneur? This is for you...
LENNY LEONG in this interview talks about what he himself learned from his mentor!!
One of which was to concentrate on creating your best offer.
You see, while technical proficiency is important, it's not the sole determinant of business success.
Instead, prioritize understanding your target audience, identifying your unique value proposition, solving customer problems, and continually iterating and refining your offer based on customer feedback and market trends.
By focusing on these aspects, you can build a strong foundation for entrepreneurial success.

Feeling like you're on a never-ending treadmill?
In our fast-paced world, we often rush through life without taking a moment to slow down.
However, there's great value in pausing, assessing, and reflecting.
Success often comes to those who are patient. So, next time you feel the pressure, remember the power of slowing down.
It allows you to make informed decisions, learn from experiences, and play the long game.
Embrace the opportunity to be patient, and you'll find greater success and fulfillment:)
WATCH HERE!
There's no need to rush all the time.
Someimes it will be more useful to Slow down. Assess the situation. Reflect.
Success goes to those who are patient.
Here are the people I will NEVER vibe & hang out with.
People who just want to make money for the sake of it.
People who only think for themselves & do not practice abundance.
People who are willing to compromise on their morals & ethics just for some quick bucks.
People who are toxic and more than willing to put down others just to let themselves feel good.
If you're any of the above, it's not that I hate or dislike you.
I'd actually wish you all the best & love in the world and understand circumstances in life that are beyond your control might have caused you to be who you are today.
However, that doesn't mean I'd like to hang out with you as I need to protect my own energy & life force.
I need to protect myself first before I can support others.
I am not perfect.
I scroll social media at night.
I eat junk food at times.
I invested in the wrong stocks without fundamentals before.
There are days I skip exercise.
I skip my non negotiable habits during certain days too.
I procrastinate waking up or doing work as well.
I have self doubt at times too.
Why?
Because I am NOT your superhuman who has it all together.
I have downs, struggles, and I am still learning like many of you.
But one thing that keeps me going,
Is to have faith and Keep taking action no matter what.
I don’t beat myself up and feel guilty when I falter.
I reflect and learn WHY it happened,
And then I just move forward to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Keep moving forward.
[STEAL THIS SUPERHERO ABILITY NOW]
We spend unnecessary mental and emotional energy trying to figure out life.
Stop trying to make sense of what happened to you.
It's easier said than done, but here's what life made me realise a lot of times:
To rationalise life logically is a battle we seldom win.
And so, really being able to manage your state internally is for me, a superhero ability.
