This morning I meditated, yoga’d and swam down at the beach. Set up a little time lapse action before I meditated. The sun looks like it is pulsing. Probably is. Beautiful.

I worshipped false idols. I did. I put certain musicians on pedestals for too long. But no more. Any musician who played segregated shows over the last two years sent a loud and clear message. A message some of us will not forget. Though many seem to have already forgotten. That’s as it should be I guess. But not for me. I choose to remember the new world that opened up to me. A world where what you do says more about you than what you say. Actions speak.

Tomorrow, Saturday 9th April, Free The Nation Music presents a special flood relief festival from 1.30pm – 10.30pm at Coorabell Hall, an historic venue in Byron Bay, Hinterland, NSW, Australia. Like many in the Northern Rivers, musicians here have been hit hard by the floods and, before that, two years of cancelled gigs and government restrictions. This special day provides paying gigs for local musicians directly impacted by the floods, and will help lift the spirits of the whole community. Lessons learned.

After the recent floods here in northern NSW a metaphorical dark cloud hung over the community, with many affected physically, mentally and spiritually by the damage done and resulting isolation and feelings of despair. The Sun Comes Out celebrates the resilience and determination each of us has within to rise up out of the darkness to reclaim the light. The sun always rises. Whatever else, this we can rely on. Laying in bed early this morning I was overcome with inspiration to get up and go to a lookout around the corner from our home to film a promo for my new single out today, The Sun Comes Out.
