While Ontarians face ever-increasing costs of living, Ford PC-connected lobbyists and corporations line up for handouts. The Globe and Mail found that 28% of “skills development” grant recipients hired lobbyists to lobby the very minister who approved their funding — up sharply from 17% when the program began. Many of those lobbyists had close ties to Doug Ford and his campaign team. 50 years ago today, the Edmund Fitzgerald sank to the bottom of Lake Superior. She was caught in a storm with waves as high as 35 feet tall. She was once the largest ship to sail the Great Lakes. We remember her 29 crew members who were lost on that fateful November night.

Last Saturday, electricity rates in Ontario jumped an average of 29% under the Doug Ford PCs — the same government that promised in 2018 to cut hydro bills by 12%. To mask the true cost, the Ford government increased the Ontario Electricity Rebate from approximately 13.1% to 23.5%. But of course, that doesn’t address the root of the problem; it just shifts the burden from ratepayers to taxpayers.
