However, its value is nearly always appreciated in later life, for two reasons. It will carry a person through hard as well as good times. It will instill a sense of obligation to other people. Moderation in all things, however. If discipline is important in your life, so be it. It is when discipline becomes obsessive that it has real dangers. A slimming campaign may be good. When it becomes obsessive, it may lead to anorexia. The psychological dangers of obsessive discipline are inflexibility, serious-mindedness, pomposity, lack of humor and the loss of a sense of fun and enjoyment. No workaholic can ever be a good family man or woman. And alienation from others may lead to severe nervous disorders.

How important is discipline in your life? The creation or development of self-esteem is the motivation behind discipline, whether self-imposed or not. Pride is the main factor impelling us to make the most of our lives and to fulfill our perceived actual or potential role in society. Thus, discipline makes for self-respect. Most of us are naturally lazy and selfish. Parents and dormitory prefects had to drag me out of bed. Schoolmasters begged me to try to use my brains a little more. My school peers ragged me unmercifully as I stuffed chocolates and sweets into my mouth and therefore put on fat. However, by my early teens, two factors-conscience and outside pressures, caused me to review my life-style. I was letting down parents and school. I decided to do some academic work, to lose some weight, and to build some muscle. A minority of people seem to be born with a single-minded motivation which leads them to achieve, irrespective of outside pressures. Most of us grudgingly accept discipline exerted from outside. This tends to sharpen our perception of what we could achieve and to appreciate its value. So, a decision is reached, or not, as the case may be. Imposed discipline becomes increasingly unnecessary as it is replaced by self-discipline. We begin to set ourselves standards well beyond the minimum expected by others. So discipline becomes important in three contexts. First, young people are inclined to emulate a role model either in sport or academics, or even the pop scene. Second, there is a realization that we owe something to the aspirations of parents, whose expectations spring from love. Third, we are all the products of the society in which we live, and there is a case for saying that we should try to put something back. Unfortunately, in some western countries, many young people became the victims of drug and anarchic manipulators, and chose to opt out of responsibility. In the 60s these people formed an alternative culture, and are now the parents of some of the worst elements in the younger generation. In Britain, four out of five crimes today are committed by teenagers. There is also a large body of so-called new age travelers who cause nuisance all over Britain and refuse all dealings with normal society, except insofar as they expect to live on state handouts, funded of course by the taxpayer. Since 1960, part of the problem has been the steady erosion of the nuclear family. Another part has been the absence of moral training in the state school system. A third factor has been urban deprivation and unemployment. The old saying "example speaks louder than words" has much truth in it, and the exceptions prove the rule. Self-discipline involves taking decisions. Where there is innate weakness, however, the factors mentioned above will tip the scales in the wrong direction. Even when the background is unexceptionable, there are isolated cases where young people go the wrong way. This could be due to genetic weakness. Many activities are personal rather than communal. The artist, the writer, the solo musician, the athlete, must all set themselves targets. To achieve these means self-imposed discipline. However, this self-discipline becomes a pleasure the more it is practiced. The novelist Trollope earned his living in the postal service. However, his ambition was to become the most prolific writer of the 19th Century. He achieved this by getting up early and writing 2,000 words every day before he went off to work. He did this for most of his life. Most people have a religion, and discipline has its relevance here, not only in the context of regular prayer and scripture reading. Our faith is often tested by disappointment, failure, or loss of a loved person. So there are dark periods when only discipline can save us from apostasy. Mention must also be made of the armed services. Here, the same principle of an external discipline designed to lead to self- discipline also applies. An obligation to national service is usually resented by young people at the time.

Picnic with Family Introduction The series of examinations made my brain tired of long hours of study and I badly needed a time out with my family. As for my family, they too had not been gone for any outing for the past few years and hence, after the last exam, I decided to call up my aged uncle who lives in another city and ask him to come over with his family. It was time for a family picnic where parents and kids could meet for a reunion and spend a day happily. Deciding the Place While my little nephew and niece jumped for the waterpark, my cousin called for the city memorial park and the elders wanted to go to the riverside picnic spot. Finally I and my sister-in-law suggested the countryside farm where my cousin could enjoy photography, kids could interact with farm animals and parents could explore the farm. Everyone jumped in unison and I called the farm owner to confirm our picnic visit the day after. The Journey Waking up early and getting ready for the picnic outing, we finally set out in our car. The owner had verified our visit that day and also prescribed the route to be taken to reach his farm. My Mother and aunt had packed breakfast for us which were finished in no time. From the well paved city highway, we took the sideway path that led us to the outskirts where the farm is situated. The pasture fields on both sides of the road and the country cottages kept us charmed till we reached the farm. The Farm and the Picnic The cheerful old owner was standing in front of the gate to greet us and his friendliness immediately made all of us comfortable. He escorted us to the rustic cottage where the brick fireplace made us feel cozy. We were served homemade cakes and breads before he took us to the petting farm. My nephew and niece were screaming in joy seeing the large cocks and hens, rabbits, cows, buffalos, ponies and horses roaming about freely. The owner also gave us grains to feed the birds and grass to feed the animals. The best part however was the pony rides, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. My uncle and father remained with the kids and animals while my mother and aunt were busy in the barn kitchen preparing the lunch. Meanwhile I, my cousin and sister-in-law accompanied the owner, had a look at his vast farm where he grew sunflowers, grapes, pumpkins, tomatoes, potatoes and radishes. As it was the harvest time, he let us pick the vegetables and grapes to bring back home as well as use for lunch specials with eggs and meat dishes obtained from the farm only. After having a scrumptious lunch together on the large table, all of us decided to interact with the owner, take a walk around the farm and fondle the animals, before setting out for home with a relaxed and stress free mind. Conclusion Although meeting the relatives regularly is not possible, thanks to our tight schedules but a quick plan for picnic brought all of us together to have endless chitchats, have food together and visit a new place together. The day ended with a heavy heart but the memory will remain forever.

Importance of Communication Introduction Importance of Communication has been emphasized time and again. While some people are born with the quality to communicate well others can learn it with some effort. Two Way Communication is Important Communication is said to be effective if it is two way. If only one person does the talking and the other one is not given a chance to put across his point then it is considered to be an unhealthy conversation. Importance of communication must be understood however at the same time people must ensure fair play in the same. Dominating the entire conversation isn’t right and so is letting the other person dominate the same. Be it at home or in a professional setting, people must recognize and realise the importance of two way communication. Importance of Effective Communication Many people understand the importance of communication and want to communicate their point to the other people however they are unable to do so. This is because they lack good communication skills. Here are few ways to communicate effectively: Interruption Interruption can be extremely annoying. It is essential to let the other person complete his/ her point before you make yours. Constantly interrupting the other person can make them wander from the point and the conversation can take a different turn. Listen Patiently Healthy conversation requires listening patiently as much as it requires putting ones point across. In order to communicate effectively you must first listen to what the other person has to say. Watch Your Body Language Your body language speaks volumes about you. It is essential to keep your body language warm and friendly rather than arrogant and haughty. Many people unintentionally give a wrong message through their body language. If you are not sure then it is a good idea to learn the art of body language. Don’t Go Overboard With Your Point The reason behind conversation is to express your thoughts to let the other person know what you feel. It is not to prove that your point is correct and the other person is wrong. Many people try to win the conversation which is absolutely wrong. It leads to unnecessary arguments and conflicts. Watch Your Words Before you say something to someone make sure you know what you are saying. At times, out of anger or anxiousness we say things that we must not say. Remember, words once spoken cannot be taken back. It is thus suggested not to say something you might regret later. Practice If there is a professional meeting, where there is a requirement of communicating about your product or work then it is suggested to practice the same beforehand. Choose how your conversation would begin, what all points you would be covering and how you would end it. Practice the same a couple of times in front of the mirror or with a friend. Conclusion Jim Rohn once said, “If you just communicate you can get by. But if you communicate skilfully you can work miracles”. So, it is essential to understand the importance of communication. However, it is all the more essential to learn the art of effective communication to put across ones point well.

Knowledge Introduction Knowledge based education puts emphasis on teaching and learning based on broadly shared knowledge as it builds strong foundation for future learning. It provides a stock full of useful facts and a set of flexible skills. Unless we know the content and context we cannot demonstrate our skills. In knowledge based education learners get information that they need to know and how to apply that information in real life. Acquiring knowledge is the first step towards the development of an individual. Knowledge based education is based on both knowledge that students already have and the knowledge they are going to obtain. Knowledge is facts and information and a set of scientific principles. It is about knowing and learning to do something. It is about developing social skills. Knowledge based education gives you a deeper insight and better understanding of the subject. It builds confidence to discuss about various topics with people around you. Importance of knowledge based Education: Knowledge increases Knowledge: We always learn something new by building on knowledge that we have. To learn something new we need to have basic knowledge first. For example, if you want to buy a dress of Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor’s brand “Rheson” you will search online where you can buy the dress. But if you never knew the name of the brand and that the brand even exists then you wouldn’t be searching for it. It is important to know to learn more. To move on from one step to another we need to know more. Like in school we start from LKG, UKG and then move on to 1st standard, 2nd standard and so on. It builds the strong base. Reading Comprehension: Reading helps to decode text and improves fluency to pronounce the speech sounds clearly. In knowledge based education, teachers focus on providing reading instructions to develop comprehension skills such as to understand the main idea, imagine, evaluate and conclude. But to understand and comprehend students need content rich knowledge on the subject. Communication: Shared knowledge allows you to communicate. Shared knowledge is important for communicating and understanding each other. In school when we discuss about a certain chapter with classmates, they have knowledge about it as it has already been discussed in the classroom by teacher. They are aware of the subject matter in detail so it becomes easy to communicate. Students can also identify what they have learnt and what they still don’t know that helps them to clear the doubts later. Boost Confidence: Knowledge based education boosts confidence in students as they possess essential knowledge and skills to use it. It builds their ability to think and process independently. Knowledge enables them to develop and grow to their full stature. It helps them socialize more confidently and effectively. Conclusion: Knowledge based education is important as students can advance educationally and become better readers by obtaining knowledge of the world around them. It helps them develop and become socially active. It helps them progress in various aspects of life. Knowledge gives them a better understanding of the world around them.

✨ admin khai here! here to give you a little reminder when you're writing your essays: if you pick to write a story for your essay, don't ever, and i mean EVER forget to put in at least ONE dialogue! in the syllabus, apparently it's one of the things that teachers and examiners search for in a story, be it a descriptive or whatever story we churned out on our exam paper. i wasn't that great with memorising formats for reviews and reports, so i'd usually write a story for my exams. i'd usually forget to put in a dialogue, so my essays would always be around 18/20 or 19/20. and even until spm, i still forgot to put in a dialogue 😂😭 so yes, please learn from my mistake so that you can secure that 20 marks in your bag! also, my very simple tip to score 18 marks and above for your essays: 💫 use simple words and make short sentences. it mininalises the chances of making wrong grammars. 💫 use a few high vocabulary words. having about 3 in your essays are enough. this makes the teachers & examiners think that you're confident in your writing— that is if you understand the meaning, and know how and when to use it! that's all from admin khai! i apologise if some of these are the same things your teachers always repeat in class 😞🙏 hope you have a good day, cheers luvs! ✨

Ideal Student An ideal student is the one who is good in academics as well as in co-curricular activities. While every parent wants his child to do well in school only a few are able to fulfil these expectations. Parent’s role should not only be to lecture their children and set high expectations from them but also to help them fulfil those expectations by nurturing and guiding them properly. Characteristics of an Ideal Student Here are some of the key characteristics of an ideal student: Hard Worker An ideal student sets goals and works extremely hard to achieve them. He wants to do best in studies, sports as well as other activities and doesn’t hesitate to put in his best effort to achieve the same. Determined An ideal student does not give up even when the times get tough. He stays determined to achieve the set goals and works continually to achieve the same. Problem Solver Many students are seen giving excuses for various things including reaching late to the school/ coaching centre, not completing their homework, not doing well in the exam and so on. However, an ideal student is one who looks for solutions to such problems rather than coming up with excuses. Trust Worthy An ideal student is trustworthy. Teachers often assign them different duties which they carry out without fail. Positive An ideal student will always be seen donning a positive outlook. Even if the syllabus is vast, even if the teacher schedules a test without giving much time to study, even if there is a sudden call for some competitive activity. An ideal student remains positive in every situation and takes on the challenge with a smile. Curious To Learn An ideal student is curious to learn new things. He does not hesitate asking questions in the class. An ideal student also goes out of his way to read books and surf the internet to widen his knowledge about different things. Takes Initiatives An ideal student is also ready to take initiatives. This is a great way to learn, understand and enhance one’s knowledge and ability. Conclusion It takes a good amount of determination to become an ideal student. However, the effort is worth it. If a child develops the aforementioned characteristics from an early age he would certainly be able to achieve a lot as he grows up and takes on bigger challenges in life.
