🇦🇷🤯 — The government of Argentina has announced the construction of a small modular nuclear reactor at Atucha Nuclear Power Plant, north of Buenos Aires. The project will receive US$1.2 billion in private investment, equivalent to approximately R$6.18 billion.

➡️ According to Presidential Spokesman Adrián Ravier, the project will be developed by Meitner Energy, a company backed by both American and Argentine capital. The plant will have a generating capacity of 300 megawatts. The Argentine government says it will be the country's first nuclear reactor to be financed entirely with private funds. Official estimates indicate that construction will create around 2,000 jobs. ➡️ Argentina currently operates three nuclear power plants: Atucha 1, Atucha 2, and Embalse Nuclear Power Plant. Together, the facilities account for about 8% of the country's electricity generation. Along with Brazil and Mexico, Argentina is one of the Latin American countries that operate nuclear power plants.
