Mount Anak Krakatau has experienced its strongest series of eruptions this year between Friday, September 4, and Sunday, September 6, 2026. The volcano remains under Level III (Alert / Siaga) status.
— What Has Happened.
• Smoke and ash clouds rose up to 15 km (50,000 feet) high, spreading across Banten, Jakarta, Karawang, Jawa Barat, Bandar Lampung, and etc.
• Soekarno-Hatta Airport temporarily closed flight operations early Sunday morning (01:30–05:30 WIB) as a safety precaution.
— What You Should Do.
1. Stay at least 3 kilometers away from the active volcanic crater.
2. Wear face masks and glasses if you need to go outside in areas affected by ashfall.
3. Check on family, friends, and neighbors to ensure everyone stays safe and informed.
