Al-Imām ibn Rajab al-Hambali [may Allāh have mercy on him] said: “O’ you who rejoice at the many number of years having passed! You rejoice only at the decrease of your lifespan! Abu ad-Dardā’a and Al-Hasan al-Basri said: ‘You are nothing more than days. Every time a day passes from you, part of you goes with it.’” 📚Latāif al-Ma’ārif | Page 304 | Al-Imām ibn Rajab al-Hambali [may Allāh have mercy on him]

Do you really fear the Hellfire? Wanna know? Focus on how you spend your night! Shadād Ibn Aws used to go to bed with much turbulence; like how a bean would pop around in a frying pan. He used to say, ‘O Allah! The thought of Hell prevents me from sleeping.’ He would then get up to offer prayers in his room. . . Abū Sulaymān al-Daranī said: ‘Thawus would go to bed very distressed and no sooner would he lie down that he would jump up to his feet and start praying. He would do so till morning.’ . . ʿAbdullāh Ibn Al-Mubarak said: 'The darkness of mid-night reveals some who are bowing, with fear having chased away their sleep, so they stood while the people who love this world sleep peacefully.Ref: Fleeing from the Fire, pg 52-53 (excerpt)

Children who died are under the care of our father Ibrahim (peace be upon him). This was narrated in the hadeeth of Samurah ibn Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) often used to say to his companions: “Has anyone among you seen a dream?” and whoever Allaah willed would tell him what he had seen. One day he said: “Last night two people came to me and made me get up, and they said to me: ‘Let’s go.’ So I set off with them…” He mentioned things that he had seen, then he said: “We set off, and we came to a verdant garden, in which were all the colours of spring, where there was a man who was so tall that I could hardly see his head in the sky. Around the man was the largest number of children I had ever seen…” Then among things that the two angels explained to him was: “As for the tall man who was in the garden, that was Ibraaheem. As for the children who were around him, these are all the children who died in a state of fitrah.” One of the Muslims said: “O Messenger of Allaah, what about the children of the mushrikeen?” He said: “And the children of the mushrikeen.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (7047). Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah the Exalted be well pleased with him and his father) related that: he heard Allah’s Messenger say (Allah bless him and give him peace): 'If someone has two children from my Community who died an untimely death, Allah will cause him to enter the Garden of Paradise on their account,' so 'A'isha said (may Allah be well pleased with her): 'What about someone who has only one child from your Community who has died an untimely death?' He said: 'Also someone who has only one child who has died young, O favored one!' She said: 'So what about someone who does not have any child from your Community who has died as an infant?' He said: 'I am a child of my Community who died an untimely death. Never again will they be afflicted by the loss of the likes of me!'” Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 399 -Repost @womenofsunnah (IG)

I'M ALREADY A MUSLIM, WHY DO I NEED TO LEARN AQEEDAH? Shaykh al Fawzan wrote: “Teaching Muslims correct Aqeedah does not mean we have judged them to be disbelievers. But rather, we teach them (correct) Aqeedah in order for them to know it thoroughly and to be aware of that which nullifies it and falls contrary to it. So it is essential to learn Tawheed, since this is the basis & foundation. And no one refrains from learning Tawheed except one of two individuals: 1. An ignorant person - and the ignorant one is given no weight 2. A bigoted deviant - who wishes to avert people from the Aqeedah of pure Tawheed and to conceal from them his own false beliefs as well other false beliefs that are ascribed to Islām. . . Umar ibn Al-Khattab said: “Soon the bonds of Islam will be loosened bit by bit, because people will enter into Islam but will be unaware of Jahiliyyah (ignorant practices).” [Related by Ibn Taymiyyah in his Majmū‘ Fatāwā (10/301)] . . Hudhayfah Ibn Al-Yamān said: “People used to ask the Messenger ﷺ about good, but I used to ask him about evil, for fear of falling into it. [Related by Al-Bukhāri 3606, Muslim 1847] . . What this means is that we desire that they should be thoroughly aware of the correct Islamic Aqeedah; so as to cling to it, and to be aware of what opposes it; so as to keep far away from it. Allah said whilst addressing His Prophet ﷺ: {فَٱعۡلَمۡ أَنَّهُۥ لَاۤ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِۗ واللهُ یَعۡلَمُ مُتَقَلَّبَكُمۡ وَمَثۡوَىٰكُمۡ} “So have knowledge about لا إله إلا الله (i.e, have knowledge that none has the right to be worshipped except Allāh), and seek forgiveness for your sins, and for the believing men and women.” [Surah Muhammad: 19] Allah the Most High said: {وَمَا كَانَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ لِیَنفِرُوا۟ كَاۤفَّةࣰۚ فَلَوۡلَا نَفَرَ مِن كُلِّ فِرۡقَةࣲ مِّنۡهُمۡ طَاۤىِٕفَةࣱ لِّیَتَفَقَّهُوا۟ فِی ٱلدِّینِ وَلِیُنذِرُوا۟ قَوۡمَهُمۡ إِذَا رَجَعُوۤا۟ إِلَیۡهِمۡ لَعَلَّهُمۡ یَحۡذَرُونَ} “It is not necessary for the believers to march forth all at once. Only a party from each group should march forth, leaving the rest to gain religious knowledge then enlighten their people when they return to them, so that they ˹too˺ may beware ˹of evil˺.” [Sūrah At-Tawbah 122] . . Also, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “If Allah wants good for a person, He gives him understanding of the religion. [Related by Bukhari from the hadith of Mu‘awiyah] . . The meaning of this hadith is that, if Allah does not want to good for a person, He does not give him understanding of the religion. So it is essential to aquire sound knowledge and understanding of the religion; because if a person does not have sound knowledge he may fall into dangers without realising it. So the one who says, I don't need to learn Aqeedah, it is as if he is saying, I do not need to gain understanding of the religion. And this is said by either an ignorant person, or one who is misguided.” ------------------------------------ Source: Al-Istiqāmah magazine [issue 8 Shawwāl (1418H/ Feb 1998)]
