Dear Dean,
I am writing to bring to your attention the concerns raised by our accounting students regarding the exit exam. As the department head of accounting, I have received numerous complaints from our students regarding the exam's structure and content.
Firstly, students have expressed their dissatisfaction with the exam's structure, which they claim is out of the blueprint. The exam does not follow the guidelines set out in the course outline, making it difficult for students to prepare adequately for it. Consequently, students feel that they are being unfairly assessed on material that was not covered in the curriculum.
Secondly, students have complained about the lengthy and detailed questions on the exam. The questions are too long, and the time given to complete them is not sufficient. This has caused a lot of stress and anxiety among our students, leading to poor performance on the exam.
Thirdly, students have raised concerns about the excessive calculation required in the exam. The level of calculation is beyond what was taught in class, and students feel that this is not a fair assessment of their knowledge.
Finally, students have raised concerns about the exam's content. The exam does not focus on all 15 courses that were included in the blueprint but instead focuses on only a few courses. This has left many students feeling unprepared and frustrated.
In light of these concerns, I urge that the exam should be revised in it's structure and content to ensure that it aligns with the course outline and adequately assesses our students' knowledge. I believe that addressing these issues will go a long way in improving our students' learning experience and academic performance.
I would also like to request that this matter be reported to the head office for further review and action. It is crucial that we address these concerns as soon as possible to ensure that our students receive a fair and comprehensive assessment of their knowledge.
