I must clarify what I'd like to see the Telegram team do: 1. Allow popular bot developers to get usernames like @wallet or @pic without the "bot" suffix 2. Provide transparency for the bot prize from 2017. We've only seen 1/4 of the prize distributed, who else won it? 3. Create an official bit feature page. Bot make Telegram so much better, show the best bots! Or even better, create an official bit catalogue! Bots are powerful things on Telegram, yet the Telegram team neglects them. Bot developers are humans, you need to recognize them. That's all I'm asking. I'm sure no bot developers would be against this.

Some context here: this Telegram user stress-tested Telegram after he got reports that messages get deleted after reaching 1M messages. He reported it to Telegram team, but they just laughed him off. He then raised a ticket about the bug on the Telegram bugtracker, under which he got ridiculed. But little did he know — Telegram team then wiped his message history up to 2022. He lost all his messages for testing, confirming and reporting the bug. These messages contained sensitive information like passwords and crypto seed phrases. Telegram team should have no authority to wipe anyone's messages. This is literally the issue with storing messages in plain text on Telegram servers. Telegram team can not only read all of you private plain text messages, but delete them for you! In the meantime, do not use Telegram to store any sensitive information! *** Немного контекста: этот пользователь Телеграма провел стресс-тестирование Телеграма после репорта о том, что сообщения удаляются после достижения 1М сообщений. Команда Телеграма не просто может читать все ваши сообщения в открытом тексте из приватных чатов, но еще может и удалять их! Пока что, не используйте Телеграм для хранения важной информации!

But in all seriousness, the main reason Telegram is not a privacy-oriented messenger is the total lack of e2e encryption in the default private chats. There are no arguments against using e2e encryption by default except for deliberately not doing it on purpose. Signal and Matrix have e2e encryption built-in by default and for some reason they are able to support multiple client chat history synchronization seamlessly. Why? Because any good enough developer can built such a thing. Telegram team can build e2e to be used by default. They don't do it on purpose. They want your chat history to be stored in plain-text on their centralized servers. Why? Because data is power. Your data is power. Can't be evil > don't be evil. Can be evil = will turn evil. And the secret chats? They are a joke made so that the team can claim that they have e2e encryption. It lacks all the features Telegram notorious for on purpose. So that you don't use e2ee. *** Но если серьезно, главная причина, почему Телеграм — это не мессенджер с целью сохранить приватность — это полное отсутствие e2e шифрования по дефолту в приватных чатах.
