🛎For many years, the common belief was simple: study hard, get a degree, secure a good job, and you will have a stable future. Unfortunately, that assumption is becoming less certain.💨 Today, retrenchments are affecting not only lower-skilled workers but also degree holders and professionals. Job security is no longer determined by the level of education alone. The reality is that we live in a rapidly changing world. Technology, including AI, is reshaping industries and jobs. At the same time, rising business costs, slowing global economic growth, and increasing debt levels may become even bigger challenges if the economy weakens further. As we move towards the fourth quarter of this year and beyond, we may hear more discussions about higher living costs, business difficulties, and rising unemployment. This is not a time for fear, but a time for wisdom, adaptability, and humility. We need to be willing to learn new skills, adjust to changing circumstances, and sometimes start from the ground up again if necessary. No job is beneath us if it allows us to provide for our families honestly. 🛎Skills, character, resilience, and the ability to adapt may become more important than titles and qualifications alone. For believers, this is also a season to stay prayerful, manage our finances wisely, reduce unnecessary debt, and seek God's guidance for the days ahead.✅ Prepare, adapt, and remain faithful. Those who are willing to learn and change will be better positioned to navigate the uncertainties ahead.

One of Singapore's long-established and trusted air-conditioning servicing companies recently had over 100 workers stranded, with unpaid salaries and no accommodation. The Singapore government responded swiftly by providing food, temporary housing, and allowing the affected workers to seek alternative employment in Singapore. One of the reasons Singapore is where it is today is because of our commitment to transparency and our willingness to help those in need. I personally know of cases involving Malaysians and Singapore PRs whose families faced financial difficulties, and our government stepped in to provide assistance. I was directly involved in handling some of these cases, so I know firsthand that such support was extended when it was needed most.

Shaking, Shifting and Transitioning ..

🛎 Starting from 1 July 2026, households in Singapore will have to pay an additional 30% for the use of 🔌 electricity. We cannot live without electricity, and there has been little to no wage increase amid a higher unemployment rate. As I have shared in the past, many will be rudely awakened to the reality that, without proper planning and preparation, many middle-class families will be badly affected 🎯 in the time to come. I believe there is always hope for those who see the signs early and take steps to prepare and hedge against higher inflation before things happen. Blessed Sunday. Shalom 😇
