UPSC 74th Annual Report In CSE 2022, among finally selected candidates : 1st attempt - 6.2% 2nd attempt -12.6% 3rd attempt - 21.9% 4th attempt -22.0% Clearly points out that chances of selection are max in 3rd and 4th attempt. Conclusion that we can draw - 1. During initial attempts candidate/s attempt this Exam without complete understanding. 2. Civil Services Exam rewards persistence and consistency rather intensity. Its not easy to remain MOTIVATED for 3-4 years and attempt UPSC exam without Job. Surely there is uncertainty in this Exam. But as the data shows number of years and experience brings Exam maturity in a candidate. My suggestion is that all of you who are in this Exam prep - must have : 1. One or two good friends who are preparing. 2. A good Mentor/Faculty who can handle hold you during times of stress. 3. A sound strategy. 4. Above average Emotional Intelligence.
