Gopocket Live Updation (Budget 2026): Tax collections may miss Budget target by Rs 3 trn: Nuvama Nuvama expects tax collections to fall short of budget estimates by about Rs 3 trillion, due to weaker direct tax growth such as slower economy and weak capital gains and lower indirect tax collections such as GST cuts effective from September 2025 and softer demand. As a result, gross tax revenue is expected to grow only 4% in FY26, according to Nuvama. This is much lower than the 13% growth projected in the Budget. The January, 2026 GST collection stood at Rs 1.93 lakh crore.
