They have also provide a free PDF with images explaining how to build one, along with information on how it works and its methodologies: - https://www.csuchico.edu/regenerativeagriculture/_assets/documents/johnson-su-bioreactor.pdf

Here are the instructions on building their Johnson-Su Bioreactor: - https://www.csuchico.edu/regenerativeagriculture/bioreactor/bioreactor-instructions.shtml

Dr. David Johnson, PhD - lays out the problems with modern agriculture very succinctly, and he teaches the solutions freely! He and his wife created the Johnson-Su Bioreactor which you can build in your backyard for $50. When this man speaks, we pay attention! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6K9GZEHtlk @CarbonCaptureShield

We try not to get involved in issues that do not relate directly to the soil. However, there comes a time when one must use whatever platforms available to speak out against injustice. With that, we share the following quote which we also shared with Elon Musk via Twitter. “Therefore do I tear at your web, that your rage may lure you out of your den of lies, and that your revenge may leap forth from behind your word "justice." - Friedrich Nietzsche It’s time for these corrupt manipulators to be exposed and held accountable for any crimes. https://twitter.com/ShieldCarbon/status/1527193730180173824 @CarbonCaptureShield

Brad Lancaster taught us that more than enough rain falls on even the dryest desert - it simply needs to be harvested into the land rather than being drained away into the rivers and oceans. Even a city like Tuscon, Arizon, with just 11 inches of rain per year, has more water fall on it from the sky than the entire city and all its inhabitants use in a year… So, if they simply reshaped their landscape according to hydrologic principles, there would be no water shortages. Enjoy this brief talk, and consider any of Brad’s many books! https://youtu.be/I2xDZlpInik @CarbonCaptureShield

In greenhouses, the growth rate and development of all plants can be improved by increasing CO2 concentrations to levels of around 800 ppm. This is approximately twice as much as the natural concentration of CO2 in natural ambient air (our “point of no return” at ~420ppm). Some greenhouse operators control the CO2 levels at 1000 or 1200 ppm to fully exploit the potential of CO2 addition. Optimised CO2 levels in greenhouses raise productivity and crop yields considerably, up to 40% during the darkest time of the year. In addition, elevated CO2 also improves the quality of the crop. When the CO2 level in the greenhouse is around 800ppm or more, the plants will produce uniform fruit, salads and vegetables of the best quality. So, while we’re being told to curb our “carbon footprint,” greenhouses are burning fossil fuels to generate CO2 to help their crops grow. Yes. Really. https://www.envirotech-online.com/article/gas-detection/8/sbh4-gmbh/carbon-dioxide-dosing-in-commercial-greenhouses-ndashbr-gas-sensors-for-optimal-control-of-growth-conditions-and-safety/2492 @CarbonCaptureShield

We could really use some support over on Reddit. If you have an account or know anyone who is a Redditor, share, please upvote, and comment on the post. Let’s not let them bury our solutions - we’ve already been locked out of Facebook and marginalized on Twitter, Insta… We want to reach all audiences, and your help makes a difference. https://www.reddit.com/r/solarpunk/comments/uqs3kg/1914_electric_car_built_by_henry_ford_and_powered/ @CarbonCaptureShield

For those asking, Robert is a native Kenyan, and he is farming north of Nairobi. He and I have been communicating for years about the plight of farmers there. The EU, Russia, and the USA all export crops to Kenya, and they get export subsidies from their government, meaning they can undercut local farmers and sell their imported produce for less than local farmers can grow them. This is all in addition to the cycle of alternating droughts and floods that much of Africa is now stuck in. The farmers are all going bankrupt, and the people become dependent upon imported food - destroying their food security. This is no coincidence - it is part of a global and systemic plan, and one that we aim to help fight and reverse! ALL OF US IN THIS COMMUNITY ARE THE SHIELD TO HELP PROTECT THOSE WHO GROW OUR FOOD. Thank you for being part of our community! @CarbonCaptureShield

Here is my personal friend (and inspiration) - Robert Kiama, a man who had a solid career, supporting his family through dentistry, who used their life savings to try and ensure his children’s food security by becoming a farmer in 2015. Robert has persevered through one setback after another since we came in contact back in 2017 - yet, he has never given up! His latest harvest 2 months ago was a miracle in the face of opposition - yet Robert harvested and took his produce to market… Only to find his nation had been FLOODED with cheap imported produce. Markets wouldn’t even consider his local produce, as they had contracts with importers… Robert tried selling them to vendors, local restaurants, and yet nobody wanted to buy them. So, they rotted in storage. This is the kind of market manipulation driving farmers bankrupt all around the world. We are here to help them overcome that. We are their shield. @CarbonCaptureShield

We have written an outline of our future vision on this subReddit (after conversing with the moderators to ensure it won’t be deleted). If you ever wondered about our true goals are at CCS: please READ this and then share (if you feel inspired to). Let’s awaken the broader public to the possibity of a future such as this! It’s within our grasp - if we can COME TOGETHER IN HARMONY to care for our Mother Earth. Enjoy, and BE INSPIRED! https://www.reddit.com/r/solarpunk/comments/uqs3kg/1914_electric_car_built_by_henry_ford_and_powered/ @CarbonCaptureShield

Tailings Ponds (as pictured above) are toxic waste pools left behind after tons of Oil Sand (or Tar Sand) is processed to produce barrels of oil. In 2017, researchers found a lone Dandelion growing in a barren stretch of oilsand tailings. It turned out the dandelion was hosting a symbiotic fungus that was literally eating what the miners had left behind. A fungus was helping the dandelion survive the harsh, acidic, water-repelling leftovers of oilsands mining. "The fungus eats [the oil hydrocarbons] and converts them into carbon dioxide and water." Researchers isolated the fungus and introduced it to a couple of seed mixtures commonly used in remediation projects. Standard remediation seed mixes almost completely failed to germinate when planted in tailings. Treated with the fungus, 90% of the seeds germinated. If choosing the right soil symbionts can help plants grow in toxic oil sludge, then imagine with inoculating YOUR SOIL could do! @CarbonCaptureShield

NASA finally shared 12 grams of Moon soil with researchers early last year, & the long-awaited planting of seeds took place May, 2021 in a lab. "Holy cow. Plants actually grow in lunar stuff. Are you kidding me?" said Robert Ferl of the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. The downside was that after the first week, the coarseness and other properties of the lunar soil stressed the small, flowering weeds so much that they grew more slowly. What these scientists fail to realize is that Lunar soil needs to be inoculated with HEALTHY Bacteria and Fungi. The soil would contain most, if not all of the nutrients plants need - but they require soil symbionts like arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to access those inorganic forms. This is part of our work: understanding how to regenerate even desert wasteland, and this is key to a brighter future! https://www.9news.com.au/world/plants-grown-in-soil-from-the-moon-for-first-time/7d1d8b50-20b7-4c3a-a42c-d9a9e986bb5d @CarbonCaptureShield

This beautiful and inspiring animation presents a future vision we believe is worth sharing. Nature and technology can exist together in symbiosis, but humanity must become conscious stewards of themselves, of nature, and of technology - in order to make this vision a reality. Try not to object to any items you may personally disagree with in this animation - just enjoy a positive vision of a harmonious future, and allow your higher self to begin working to manifest such a reality. Nature’s power to create is incredible. We are a part of nature, and just as amazing. With great power comes great responsibility. We are the SHIELD for carbon-based life and harmony here on Earth. @CarbonCaptureShield

Our current society is built upside down on purpose (inverted, or mirrored). Our government policies rest on the unstable foundation of opinions driven by emotions based on biased research funded by those who hope to influence opinion and policy… When we invert this - shared knowledge leads to real-world successes, opening new possibilities - allowing us to take effective and creative actions. It’s time to stop being fooled by the reflections of a broken society. @CarbonCaptureShield

In 1968, Doug Engelbart presented the computer mouse, computer word processing, internet hyperlinking, and even remote collaboration similar to Google Docs… This became known as the “Mother of all demos.” Such leaps of human innovation are often lost in the mists of time. That’s why we consciously seek to learn from our past and uncover hidden gems and solutions to modern problems. @CarbonCaptureShield

This is what kind of censorship we are up against! I made 2 comments in this group, and then I was PERMANENTLY BANNED… My factual and polite reply was to the post: “Choosing plant-based foods could save 500 species from extinction, new study finds…” My replies were precise, cordial, and undeniable - so they banned me. But, you can still Upvote my comments and make sure as many people see them as possible! Don’t allow them to lie without us calling them out! https://www.reddit.com/r/sustainability/comments/uepp6q/choosing_plantbased_foods_could_save_500_species/i7w3rfc/?context=3 @CarbonCaptureShield
