50% weightage to Class 12 Board marks
Board marks may contribute up to 50% of the admission merit.
The remaining weightage would come from the entrance exam. (The exact formula has not been finalized.)
Better alignment of NEET/JEE syllabus with NCERT & school curriculum
Reduce dependence on coaching.
Ensure school education and entrance exams test similar concepts.
NCERT may become the nodal agency for syllabus alignment.
Multiple attempts
Students may get more than one opportunity in a year instead of relying on a single exam.
Adaptive / On-demand Computer-Based Testing (CBT)
A gradual shift from paper-based exams to secure computer-based testing.
Long-term goal: flexible testing windows and improved security.
Reducing dependence on coaching institutes
By aligning school learning with entrance exams and reducing the “one exam decides everything” model.
Reducing the high-stakes nature of a single examination
Spread evaluation across board performance and entrance tests to lessen pressure.
Other reform ideas reported separately (not part of the confirmed main proposal)
Percentage-based NEET qualifying criteria instead of percentile (being discussed by some experts/NMC; not approved).
