+1Group Photography Exhibition – Water in Ethiopia
Initiated by the Goethe-Institut in 2022, “Water in Ethiopia” was a long-term project that experimented with visual storytelling techniques to highlight Ethiopian stories around the topic of “Water”. The group photography exhibition “Water in Ethiopia” at the Modern Art Museum, Gebre Kristos Desta Centre is open for the public between 12 January and 9 February 2024 will feature original works by Abenezer Tefera, Ashenafe Mestika, Bemnet Fekadu, Carlo Ertola, Dawit Teshome, Mekdes Ababu and Mikiyas Alemayehu.
The exhibition is the culmination of a project that invited seven Ethiopian photographers to hone their visual storytelling skills through workshops and field trips across Ethiopia between 2022 and 2023, with the guidance of Andy Spyra, a German photojournalist internationally renowned for his work.

| 5 | Chewatacon is the first of its kind festival designed to honor Ethiopian gaming culture and delve into the various aspects of playing games, both locally and globally. This month-long event serves as a platform to celebrate the playful nature of gaming, showcase Ethiopian unique game culture, and bolster the Ethiopian gaming community to foster a more cohesive and vibrant gaming environment. The event at Goethe-Institut on Saturday, 16 December 2023 will feature a workshop that introduces gaming to non-gamers and creatives, as well as providing a platform for cross-collaboration. This will be followed by a panel discussion where participants will be able to exchange ideas.

አርታኢው ተርጓሚ እና ሃያሲ ቴዎድሮስ አጥላው ስለመድብሉ ይህን ብለዋል።
‘’... ያም ኾኖ አብዛኞቹ ድርሰቶች ድርሰቶቹ የዘመኑን ያህል አልጨፈገጉም፤ ለዘመኑ ቀቢጸ ተስፋ እጅ አልሰጡም፤ ለግብረ ገብ ዝቅጠቱም አላሸበሸቡም፤ ወይም ለወረት ጅምላ ጥላቻ ወይ ፍቅርም አላጎበደዱም። የብዙዎቹ ጉዳይ ሰብአዊ ጣጣ ነው። በዚህ መድበል የተካተቱት የሚነግሩት ተረክ ያላቸው፣ ይህንኑም የእኔ ባሉት ሥልት ለአወዳዳሪ ዳኛ፣ ለአርታዒ፣ ለሐያሲ፣ ለአንባቢ ለማቅረብ የደፈሩ ወጣቶች ሥራዎች ናቸው። ሥራን ለውድድር ማቅረብ ራሱ ለብዙ ወጣቶች የሚያታግል፣ ከራስ የሚያነታርክ፣ በላድርግ አላድርገው መንታ መንገድ ላይ አውሎ የሚያሳድር፣ በሌላ ሰው “መዳኘት”ን ለመድፈር ወኔ የሚጠይቅ ተግባር በመኾኑ፤ ሠላሳዎቹን ብቻ ሳይኾን ለውድድር የቀረቡትን ከመቶ በላይ ጸሐፊዎች አደንቃለሁ።’’

| 16 | The Goethe-Institut Äthiopien is currently accepting applications for their Regional German Teachers' Training Program. This program will be held from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, with a focus on teaching German as a Foreign Language at the Goethe-Institut.
