Admiral Richard Byrd states on-air in 1957 that there remains an unexplored area of the world as big as the United States, which no human being has seen, lying on the “other side of the South Pole”.
Byrd previously led an US Navy expeditionary force to the South Pole after the 1945 public end of WWII, in what later become known in lore as the “Last Battle of WWII”.
On the expedition, Byrd claimed to have observed “advanced aerial vehicles” and “other worldly craft”, which could not have been repelled by any US military weapons system of the day, and could lay waste to US cities “in hours”.
He died shortly after the interview below.
