#ScienceSaturday No. 99 (Special Christmas Eve Edition) NGC 2264, nicknamed the "Christmas Tree Cluster." This cluster has become the recent subject of astrophotographer Michael Clow, who imaged it in November. His optical data have been combined with X-ray data from NASA' Chandra X-ray Observatory to create this beautiful Christmas tree-like image. NGC 2264 is located within the Milky Way, just 2,500 light-years from earth. And the stars within it are very, very young — just one to five million years old.
