An example of how a phenakistiscope works — a disc with a bunch of figures (drawings), which, as it rotates, creates the illusion of real movement. The effect is based on a feature of the human eye — persistence or inertia of vision.

The magpie uses Archimedes law to reach the coveted water. The law states that any body completely or partially submerged in a fluid at rest is acted upon by an upward force the magnitude of which is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body.

Explosive Boiling Take a glass of water and heat it in the microwave until the water almost boils. Then take out the glass and put any small object into it, the water will boil when it comes into contact with outside objects. It's all about the microwave where the water doesn't boil, it's structured. If you heat water on a gas or conventional stove this effect will not happen.

The Weissenberg effect An effect characteristic of some non-Newtonian fluids. Instead of being thrown outward, a chain of polymers is coiled onto a rod. Technically, this phenomenon is as follows: if a rotating rod is placed in a container with a polymer solution, the liquid level around the rod will begin to rise, the solution will be "wrapped" around the rod.

Iron can burn❗️ Under normal conditions, the oxidation rate of iron depends strongly on its form: a simple piece of metal does not burn, but thin fibers of iron or fine powder can easily be ignited. It all depends on the contact surface of the iron with the air: it should be enough so that the oxidation reaction can sustain itself. Iron wool consists of fairly thin fibers of iron. Oxidation on such a surface produces enough heat to keep the reaction going, and it runs "on its own”.
