Dear Prof. Drozd, I am writing to you in your role as president of the Ukrainian Math Society. I'd appreciate it if you could help steer this email to the right person. The Russian invasion is appalling and criminal, and I want to help however I can. One way might be the following. I am a math prof at the University of Texas at Austin, and have some money in my grant, that I can use to invite someone to visit my university. This seems trivial compared to Ukraine's need, but providing a few months in the USA, for someone in bad circumstances, might be helpful. When used for travel, my grant usually pays airfare, accommodations, and a per diem for food. It has always been sufficient for me. I don't know about dependents. (I have asked the staff in my department about this.) This would work best for someone whose work is plausibly related to mine, which is group theory, understood broadly. Opportunities for Ukrainian, Russian and Belarusian Scholars The University of Trento will provide 10 incoming mobility grants to Ukrainian, Russian and Belarusian scholars who have applied for or are already holders of international protection in Italy or in a European Union member country, or who have applied for or are already recognized as subjects at risk by Scholar at Risk, and have had to abruptly interrupt their research activities due to circumstances related to the war or the presence of a dictatorial regime. Each of the grants is worth 900,00 euro per month for a period of 6 months in addition to free accommodation depending on availability.
