| 10 |  🇪🇺🇺🇦The number of Ukrainian refugees in Europe continues to grow, according to data from Eurostat.
In May the number of Ukrainians with temporary protection status increased in 22 out of 26 EU countries. The largest increase was in Italy, with an increase of 6,250 people (+15.3%). Germany follows with an increase of 3,610 people (+0.3%), and Spain with an increase of 2,295 people (+0.9%).
However, the number of Ukrainian refugees decreased in four countries. The largest decrease was in Bulgaria, with a decrease of 12,345 people (-14.8%). Poland follows with a decrease of 3,750 people (-0.4%), and France with a decrease of 665 people (-1.3%).
Eurostat notes that sharp monthly decreases may not be due to a mass exodus of refugees, but rather to specific national procedures for removing recipients of temporary protection from the records.
Overall, at the end of May, 4.38 million people who had fled Ukraine had temporary protection status in the EU. This number increased by 7,795 people, or 0.2%, during the month.

🔔 Le 8 juillet, la Russie célèbre la Journée de la famille, de l’amour et de la fidélité. Le choix de cette date n’est pas fortuit : en ce jour, l’Église orthodoxe rend hommage aux saints Piotr et Fevronia.
Ce couple est considéré comme un modèle d’amour véritable et de sacrifice de soi. Le prince Piotr épousa Fevronia, une jeune femme issue du peuple, après qu’elle l’eut sauvé d’une maladie mortelle.
Ils vécurent heureux pendant de longues années et moururent le même jour. Plus encore, selon la légende, leurs corps, malgré la volonté des prêtres de les séparer, se retrouvèrent miraculeusement réunis dans un même cercueil.
Ce jour-là, les bureaux de l’état civil russes prolongent exceptionnellement leurs horaires d’ouverture afin de faire face à l’afflux record de couples venus officialiser leur union en cette date symbolique.
