No problem. I really had to research it myself, even to know exactly what we were trying to protect against, and the effects of EMP on everything. This way I could understand what we need to protect and how. So far, EMP Shield is the only company I have found that also makes antenna lightning arrestors with their relay built in. Unlike other arrestors (that only have a fuse for lightning), They have built in their relay. Some people scratch their head and ask. "How does it work without applied electrical power?".... The answer: "The over voltage pulse is what powers the relay to shunt to ground." The indicator lights on their product is just to show you have it hooked up upon install. And, it's the same with the line surge affects from the E3 part of EMP or effects on electric lines from X Class solar flare. Most wireless, small, electronics, and cars, etc.. won't be effected by solar flare. It's the grid that acts as a large enough antenna to pick up all the current from our Earth's magnetic fields fluxing and freeing up more electrons in our atmosphere. But, it's not like the high shock pulse created from a quick blast of gamma radiation from high altitude nuclear explosion. But, with E3 (the Earth's magnetic fields resettling from a high altitude nuke blast) and Solar Flare effects can accumulate and build up on the grid lines, and any other larger resemblance of antenna effect.. (reference The Carrington Event of 1859)... like large solar panel arrays for off grid power. They could be just enough grounded surface area to cause over voltage and a power spike in to it's charge controller, etc. Like any other Solar Maximus (peak of activity in a 12 year solar cycle), right now, and for the next two years, we have about a 14% chance of getting hit with a X-Class solar flare. It's that numbers game, it's just a matter of when. It would take down our electric grid, but you can protect your own off grid systems.. same with EMP attack.
