🚨 DAY 10 : 30 DAYS ETHICS ENRICHMENT SERIES 📚 Topic: IQ vs EQ 📖 Meaning : IQ: It measures cognitive abilities, such as logic, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. It includes: 1. Intellectual capacity and logical thinking. 2. Analytical thinking, critical reasoning, abstract problem-solving. 3. High IQ often correlates with academic and professional success in technical fields. 4. Assessed through standardized IQ tests (e.g., verbal, mathematical reasoning) 5. Used in academic performance, problem-solving tasks, and IQ-based professions. EQ: It measures emotional intelligence, including awareness, regulation, and expression of emotions. It includes: 1. Emotional awareness, empathy, self-regulation, and social skills 2. Empathy, emotional self-awareness, impulse control, relationship management. 3. High EQ is linked to better relationships, leadership, and conflict resolution. 4. Assessed through emotional intelligence tests, observations, and self-reflection. 5. Used in personal relationships, leadership roles, teamwork, and managing emotions in challenging situations Add this diagram to your notes. ✏️ Examples: 1️⃣ K. R. Jyothilal displayed emotional intelligence by coordinating rescue operations effectively and managing the emotional needs of people affected by the floods. 2️⃣ O.P. Chaudhary, while dealing with insurgency in Chhattisgarh, understood the deep-rooted socio-economic issues in the region and took steps to engage with local communities. 💬 Key Quote : "High EQ is a better predictor of success in life than high IQ." — Travis Bradberry 👉 PYQs: Once again, a favorite topic of UPSC. Emotional Intelligence has been asked a number of times. 1️⃣ “What really matters for success, character, happiness, and lifelong achievements is a definite set of emotional skills -your EQ- not just purely cognitive abilities that are measured by conventional IQ tests.” Do you agree with the view? Give reasons in support of your answer. (2023) 2️⃣“Emotional Intelligence is the ability to make your emotions work for you instead of against you.” Do you agree with this view? Discuss. (2019) 3️⃣ There have been dozens of case studies, which require application of EQ. You need to depict the examiner that you have EQ through the solutions you provide in Case Studies. Hit ❤️ if you found this useful. 📎 Stay Updated : @upscandbeyondd

How to build habits? (Like meditation etc etc) Technique: Habit stacking (learned from book- atomic habits) My experience with trying to form habit of meditation has been a mixed experience up until last week. But since last week it became regular, easy and requires no motivation even on world falling apart days. Before this i have had streaks of doing it and then missing it. Basically it needed a lot of willpower and motivation and that drains us of energy. When things come to us easily without needing willpower that's when a habit is formed. So i read about habit stacking in this book recommended by a friend. Basically it requires us to find one habit we do everyday and writing down one habit you want to do everyday and clubbing them. For me a habit i did everyday was drinking black coffee (everyday for years). So all I had to do was to make sure that everytime I poured boiling black coffee, i meditate for 5 mins till it cools down. For 2-3 days I had to be concious of it, but now it has become a reflexive habit for me to pour coffee, put on a timer, meditate and then enjoy coffee. Requires no willpower, no motivation. That's when i realised habits are so much better than relying on motivation. It was sadly too late for me to learn in UPSC journey, but life is always at the moment you begin. I hope you begin today. (The book has many such practical techniques to build and break habits, just shared a part of it) Do you like me sharing such non study write ups, does it help? Let me know. Day 33: Diagramification of your Mains Answer ✅Theme: How attitudes actually change - the ladder every government campaign climbs. Information → Awareness → Reflection → Acceptance → Behaviour Change. Five rungs. And here is the analytical sting your answer can carry: most campaigns stop at rung two. Information was distributed, awareness was generated - and behaviour never changed. Swachh Bharat worked where it pushed past awareness into acceptance (toilets became izzat, not infrastructure); road safety campaigns mostly have not. Draw the ladder, mark where a given scheme stalled, and your "critically evaluate" answer has a spine. Use it in sanitation, corruption, road safety - the diagram itself tells you where. 💡Persuasion, social influence, attitude functions - the full attitude chapter is drawn out in the GS4 Diagram Booklet, ₹399, Civil Services Compass app ✉️Follow us for more such content

Public Administration Paper 1

Hi Everyone! After making Topper Copy Compilations for GS1, GS2, GS3 & GS4, let me confess Essay was the toughest nut to crack! Why? Because filtering purely the best essays on parameters like flow, examples, introductions, anti-thesis, structure & creativity meant reading 250+ essays, shortlisting the best 70, and ensuring both philosophical + GS-based topics were covered especially repeating themes that UPSC actually loves. But we did it and we’re super proud of the team that pulled this off! 💪✨ Now, since this compilation demanded insane hours and precision, the Essay course will be priced slightly higher than other GS ones… BUT here’s the Diwali gift 🎁 We’ve launched our new app, where all our courses (including combo offers) are listed and for Diwali Week, we’re releasing the Essay Toppers Copy Compilation at par with GS prices! 🔥 Pay here for Essay Toppers Copy: [Payment Link- click here and pay] 📱 App Link: [App Link- Click here and Install] 📲 Note for iOS users: please wait a few days, we’re coming for you soon (No need of screenshots, once you pay, direct access in app, for all downloadable files- All topper copies are downloadable now!)

🚨 DAY 2 : 30 DAYS ETHICS ENRICHMENT SERIES 📚 Topic: Bureaucratic Attitude vs. Democratic Attitude 📖 Meaning : A Bureaucratic Attitude is characterized by a focus on rules, procedures, and hierarchy. It emphasizes formal structures and clear lines of authority. Its features include rule-orientation, impersonal decision-making, emphasis on stability and consistency of organisation, and somewhat conservative nature. A Democratic Attitude is characterised by participation, inclusivity, and responsiveness. It seeks to involve citizens in decision-making processes and values their opinions. Its features include participatory nature, transparency, flexibility, and empathy. Pro tip: Keep an eye on diagrams like this. Because I had it in my notes, I was able to effortlessly draw this same diagram in the exam too. ✏️ Examples : 1️⃣ Democratic Attitude: Vijay S.D. as Collector of Nashik launched the "Maharashtra Ghar Ghar Ration" initiative, which involved consultations with beneficiaries to ensure the scheme met their needs. 2️⃣ Bureaucratic Attitude : A 68 year old divyang woman in Orissa had to crawl for 30 km to a bank to withdraw her pension money. This shows the bureaucratic attitude of officials, who did not consider extraordinary the circumstances of the lady. 💬 Key Quotes : "If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary." James Madison 👉 PYQs where the topic can be applied : 1️⃣ Mindless addiction to form, ignoring the substance of the matter, results in rendering of injustice. A perceptive civil servant is one who ignores such literalness and carries out true intent". Examine the above statement with suitable illustrations. (2024) 2️⃣ Two different kinds of attitudes exhibited by public servants towards their work have been identified as bureaucratic attitude and the democratic attitude. (a) Distinguish between these two terms and write their merits and demerits. (b) Is it possible to balance the two to create a better administration for the faster development of our country? (2015) Hit ❤️ if you found this post helpful. 📎 Stay Updated : @upscandbeyondd
