Repost from @tommyjohniii • This isn’t 89. It’s his 89. To some it looks irresponsible, dangerous and lucky. To others it looks inspiring. It doesn’t matter what anyone outside of him thinks or feels about how he’s living. It’s his life. The story being sold of aging is only half true. To be born into this world, taken care of, fed, cleaned, carried or wheeled and protected to grow into your own self, live that self and learn many valuable lessons with memories and experiences and wisdom attached to them, only to decline to an exit strategy of being taken care of, fed, cleaned, carried or wheeled and protected to decline and fail as your future self. Nothing being yours anymore. Living near your kids to protect their fears. Living in assisted living because you assisting yourself isn’t possible. Imprisoned by your own body. Don’t die. Whatever you do. Don’t die. That story is always a possibility. But it doesn’t have to be your story. You write it any way you want and your body will support and guide. There’s no decline unless you need it to see you need to change to want differently. Basic biology. It is possible to have elders who are wise, able and still offer something to their clan, tribe, neighborhood and self. More every year. The longer you spend in something should be closer to mastery not greater incompetence. The older you are the more you get, gain and express. If you want. It’s 100% up to you what your years look like. @barefoot_donh

Repost from @tommyjohniii • The human body and its infinite responses of healing is never wrong. It’s never against you. There is no process that isn’t perfectly designed for you to stay here, learn from, change with, and increase your experience of your life. ALL of medicine is choosing some very powerful words to name states of being they do not understand the body is using to heal, teach and keep you here. Those words led by tests have us believing if we correct the words, fix the words, prevent the words that we will be what the world calls “healthy” and not die. A life of no symptoms or injuries and don’t die is the goal. There is no healthy, vibrant, connected, strong, understood life that will not contain a lot of symptoms and a lot of injuries. That’s the point of them. The learning, the wisdom and the ability changes while it does the easy parts we’ve confused with pathology and attack. You will use them. Body has the easy job with all the scary things we measure and know nothing about, metrics, labs, imaging, data, names. We have the tough job to understand feelings, habits, beliefs, changes, actions, solitude, purpose, intention, effort, connection, work, challenges, consistency and honesty. Read that all again. Because you do nothing to heal. Think a cut. You do nothing to bleed, scab, scar and build new. Nothing. Your job is harder. The body did the part no version of medicine can replicate. Read that again. Discover this and you will discover how the trust can be built between you and you. Any guidance is given from right along side and slightly behind you. You lead. Your symptoms and injuries are for you not a practitioner. Doesn’t matter if it’s addictions, psychotherapy, injuries, orthopedics, cardiology, immune, pediatrics, neural, bones, skin or gut. Body only heals. You do nothing to heal, absolutely nothing. You do everything to learn, understand and change to experience deeper. You have the hardest part. Can’t outsource the job to a practitioner. Can’t outsource the job to a spouse. Can’t outsource it to a procedure. Without cost. You with you. Not you vs you. Your body is the safest place you’ll ever be.

One of the biggest communicators and connections in meetups are the eyes. They’re covered now more than ever. The glasses are out of hand. But I understand they may look and feel good. But is that it? Do your eyes hurt from light? Something you’ll need to see. Are you hiding? Want to be out and about but don’t want to connect? What else might we be hiding? All great questions for you to answer and your body will guide you to the answers. But we masquerade our true selves all the time. What do you think medications do? They hide authenticity. They hide the truth. Not our truth from some remote viewing from the galactic federation. Your bodily truth . It will never lie. It knows the future, past, parallels. It’s predicts. It connects. It senses energy you have no idea is even present. It is more mystical and spiritually enabled than any form of man made religion or system. Yet we hide it. We numb it. We prevent it from showing us who we are. Who we are with. Where we are. Why? It goes beyond glasses. But practically sunglasses eyes and light are a whole other conversation. One I will cover in hours of details in a future workshop on Light, not just sunlight and moonlight. See you out there. If I can recognize you I’ll say hello. I hear and see it all the time, “an active lifestyle is healthy. Just go be active. People live longer who are active.” There’s more to this story than this trendy, sexy, seemingly hopeful but deceptive message. It’s not about living long. It’s about living full. Highest sensations. Honest. For as long as we choose. But length of time survived isn’t a badge. Or impressive. Length and life within the years, that’s more like it. And to receive and express this level, we are blessed to exist in a time where we need to prepare for that level. The training/movement essential and all its concepts and principles is a start, and the basis for all changes, work and sensual observations in your life but there’s more to what determines a muscle’s ability to manage forces of life emotionally, intellectually, mentally, spiritually, and physically. And it all needs addressed in this preparation. And this preparation AND the play ends up being life, every choice you make when you open your eyes to closing them. But understand this, an active life is only healthy if you’re prepared for it. Getting injured in an active life, then participating in all passive treatments, surgeries, staying in the active life you weren’t prepared for only not feeling any of the damage continuing to be done to your unprepared body because of the treatments and surgeries and body healing more, more pain, more inflammation, more treatments, and you decline in activity to lesser evolved forms: pickle ball, golf, cards, recumbent bikes, pools, paved trails, missionary, local travel…less life. This continues until it can’t anymore and we call it aging and certain decline, no choice, prison, luck, genetics. Body knows one way, true. How prepared are you for the play you feel you deserve? Play is earned. Sensations are earned. 100% up to you. Use life as the test. Body will tell you your score. If you’re not pleased with it, change. You want to chop trees for house, money and fun but you don’t ever want to sharpen your axe. Or you want to do both, sharpen 3 notches, chop 4, until death. Certain decline. This is a law. Human? Move/Train. Older human? Move/Train more. Injured human? Move/Train most.

Night Cap. You don’t have to train at all angles, all directions, all joints, all levels, all intensities, all patterns. But in unpredictable life outside of training you will have to move in any variation the body can and chooses to or you choose to at any given moment infinite times over. To be honest training is always simple and always done in ways that you are unexceptional at accomplishing. Life is where the accomplished moments come. Not in your personal, individual, private training sessions. You should be awful at training and exceptional at life. In the field of medicine, rehab and strength and conditioning we have the opposite and it’s obvious. Strong but injured. Strong but symptomatic. Strong but on medications. Strong but on hormones and peptides. Strong but multiple surgeries planned on noses and hips and spines. Strong but trendy. Strong but terrified. Strong but numb. Strong but hiding. Strong but lost. Strong but quoting everyone else but you. Strong but still digging outside yourself. One of the beautiful realizations and lessons that come from all symptoms and all injuries is what true training actually is and what strength actually looks and feels like. How it all gels perfectly in everyone’s life from paralysis, to bed ridden, to cancer to chronic injuries to addiction to depression to denial and auto immune. Bad at training. Good at life. Now check yourself. What does your body say? It’ll never lie to you. And your symptoms, sensations and injuries are the most honest you’ll ever be in your life. Use them. Have a good night everybody.

This stands out to me more than it may to others because we live in a time where one of the stories being told that all industries of society want you to believe is that you decline because of age. Or you get sick or diseased because of age. And your reality without question is to be born into this world, be taken care of, fed, cleaned, carried or wheeled and protected to grow into your own self, live that self and learn many valuable lessons with memories and experiences and wisdom attached to them, only to decline to an exit strategy of being taken care of, fed, cleaned, carried or wheeled and protected to decline and fail as your future self. Nothing being yours anymore. Loving near your kids to protect their fears. Living in assisted living because you assisting yourself isn’t possible. Imprisoned by your own body. Don’t die. Whatever you do. Don’t die. None of that is satirical. It’s true. Although that is the choice of 99.9999999% of the world’s population, your biology, basic science and your body supports another way of living if you choose. Complete independence. Adventure. Autonomy. Safety and trust. Hobbies and work. Exploration. Ambulating. Cook, clean, drive and care for yourself. Why? So you can love others more, visit others more, share more with others, connect with others more. All coming from your connection to self. Much like this 81 year old dropping off gifts to me. Who do you want to be? Forced to be visited? Or doing the visiting? Your choice. It’s always your choice. Your body will always support you whether you want to change or not. Fighting change will cost you more but you will own that.

I have to be obedient to it, when not, bodies come right back to show us what we missed. Can’t stop at muscle although many specialities do. More that effects muscle in our lives than training food and sleep. Nobody going into all of it. Bodies proving the lack. From acl tears to herniated discs, to congestion and depression, to addiction and skin responses, to auto immune renaming and neurodegenerative expressions, to heart attacks or strokes to surgeries and infertility or changing careers and families. Every case. All human. Same laws. Different poetry. Your body uses your strongest areas to damage or change to get you to learn a lesson, gain the wisdom, understand the changes and why fixes and prevention don’t work. It would never use the weakest otherwise the design would have us experiencing so much damage we’d never make it. First bite doesn’t go to your heart and brain first, it chooses the strongest path through fingers and toes. When an area is symptomatic or injured it needs attention more than ever, needs grace and love, nourishment and connection more now than when you never paid attention to it. Partly why it’s happening. Symptoms and injuries carry stories that must be created to be faced. Walking is dangerous. Picking things up is harmful. Men leave and abandon. Females are imprisoning and controlling. Food is poison and a cure. Bosses don’t think you’re worthy. Numb is a better option. Life. The experience. This is perfect that these stories exist. Because they are always true, to the body. You are to use this. Teaching your body walking isn’t dangerous by changing your life. Men and women can be safe by changing your life. Picking things up off the ground like grandkids and square bails is essential by changing your life. All food is celebration and sensual by changing your life. You’re valuable and exceptional by changing your life. You will feel more than ever from this moment on by changing your life. And symptoms and injuries are here to stay in life because they’re critical for growth and trust by changing your life. Your body only heals. You learn, change and understand. You do nothing to heal. Your body is already on that.

Repost from @tommyjohniii • Everyday unless injuries or symptoms don’t allow these stages. Then I get really creative. Been doing these for 16 years. Different everytime. A lot of understanding along the way. There’s no world where a human isn’t going or be required to move. A lot. Deliberately. Even healing responses that have people choosing beds or chairs can deliberately move many areas of their body. The only healing response where deliberate movement isn’t available for a reason is the perfection of a coma. That’s where our bodies protect us into infancy stage for a reason for that person to then truly go through all stages of developing to throw out, learn, shed, grow and broth themselves into the world again for round 2. What parts of the body need to be strongest for life? All of them. Which parts are used to change, understand healing and take actions never experienced before by that individual? All of them. Hands, feet, shoulders, hips, spine and everything in between like shape shifting iron. Supple and impervious at the same time. Amazing how much of the world finds their low hanging fruit of symptoms and injuries clear just by getting stronger. And the realize there are more things that effect a muscle that have to be addressed and seen. Same with food. Training and food have people drunk on salvation because they can appear to feel and look so good just by perfecting those two. Only to realize it’s not those two at all separate from the rest and their relationship with food and movement goes deeper than ingredients or reps and eats. No matter the case: cancer, auto immune, addiction, coming off meds, getting on meds, avoiding surgery, post surgery, pulled hamstrings to herniated discs, hormones to arthritis, skin to digestive and every other system, label and test result….we start with coming back to your body.
