I’ve been calling my reps every day since last week. I’ve been reached out prominent internet figures like Louis Rossmann and John & Hank Green (and you should too). I’ve been spreading the news by word of mouth.
But I can’t do it alone. We all CARE about privacy here, but I get the feeling that not everyone is really stepping up and putting in the time it takes to actually make things happen. Hell, I’m sure I could be doing more. But we need to be there for each other, and know that we’re not acting alone.
I truly think we can win this. Get enough public figures on our side, and it will be obvious. NOBODY WANTS TO BE SPIED ON, and that’s what this is. They just need you to tell them.
If we fight this, we win.
Edit: This sub is also host to lots of bots and shills trying to get you to shut the fuck up, give up, and go home. The quickest way to win a fight is to convince the other side to stop fighting. That’s what they’re trying to do to you.

Per his current, temporarily unlisted video:
"They subpoenaed Google, asking for all private information tied to this email address. And google sent them like, hundreds of hours of all the raw footage from everything I've filmed of the Lego videos so far. All my emails, all my search history, all the metadata that shows everywhere I've been."
I've never seen google bend over this willingly and completely for so little. Usually they try to restrict for scope, but completely forking over the entire contents of someones private google account without contest, without scope of relevance or anything else, and without ever hearing the other side is absolutely insane.

I remember the days when I could take out a book in my small town library and see who had read the book before me. I really enjoyed seeing people that I knew who had read the same book that I was reading.
But, a time came when anonymity appropriately became a concern for libraries. They adopted a system to ensure that.
Now society has reached a point that governments and companies want to collect our personal information just read webpages. I’m not alone in not trusting this trend.
So, I’m wondering if there might not be a smart way to use libraries as a gateway to give people some kind of anonymized identification, something that a local library could provide a person to prove themselves an adult without sharing personal information.
I realize that clever kids could probably figure out a way around this, but I’m sure kids will figure out a way to outfox the proposed systems, too.
I certainly trust libraries more than our governments and the companies that love to spy on us.

Don't know where else to post this, and I'm kind of panicking right now. Because I haven't found a workaround to the new age verification bs, even though I'm an adult.
I'm unable to see NSFW subreddits (or comments I made on them) due to some new age verification rule. Even though they're medical/other informative subs.
I would have to submit a 3D scan of my face or my gov ID, which I obviously don't want to do. My settings have also been changed and locked (without me doing so). So now I can't change them back unless I submit a 3D face scan or gov ID.

So for now, my Reddit account has seen by the recently implamented AI age verification to be a child, despite me being 18 scince June 17th...
And about a week ago, this hit my account. All of a sudden, whatever i could do as an 18 year old on this account, pretty much all of it was gone. >!To be specific, you cannot follow me, DM me (i can only DM others), and i cannot even check anything that is tagged as 18+ on Reddit anymore, without basically doxxing myself, which is what AI age verification is; forced self doxxing.!<
Because of this, it has come to my feelings that despite being the legal age of an adult, i dont feel like one at all; for as long as AI age verification is around, i will not be able to be an adult like everyone else will at one point, and heck, i might end up becoming a 60 - 80 year old, CHILD, in the near future...
My point is that the age you are in the real world basically doesn't matter anymore. The internet has become such a major part of everyday life, that it kinda is now part of your soul. And by not wanting to reveal my face or ID to some definitely (not) trustworthy AI age checks, i will remain a child up until either one, AI age checks fail, or two, until i do dox myself, and risk my privacy just to prove that i am over the age of 18.
the fact that we've come so far to the point where we are now being told to do what school told us NOT to do (to not share private information about us online) is getting absurd, and welp, i guess i might remain a child for the remainder of my life... 😿

I’m a delivery driver for a food distribution company in KY, USA, and they’ve recently put cameras in our cabs that uses AI to help with driver “safety,” but are now also requesting consent to release biometric data to them. Not sure if anyone is aware of if I have any recourse to refuse without losing my job. Also, the cameras have been in use for months now before asking for my biometric data, so is there any way I can be sure they haven’t been collecting/using this data already?
