You can solve the MCQ on Ricardian Equivalence here.
📚This theory “Ricardian Equivalence” can make govt policy useless !!!
👉Government borrows → People save more
This is called “Ricardian Equivalence”
☑️explained clearly 👆
💥Fiscal policy may become ineffective
(UPSC favourite theory)

💥What is Impossible Trinity (Mundell - Fleming) ?
👉 Also called Trilemma in International Economics
A country CANNOT simultaneously achieve all three:
1.Fixed Exchange Rate
2.Free Capital Movement
3.Independent Monetary Policy
👉 You can choose only ANY TWO
🎯Suppose a country tries ALL 3:
•Fix exchange rate at ₹80/$
•Allow free capital flow
•Cut interest rates
💥 What happens?
•Investors move money out (low returns)
•Demand for dollar rises
•Rupee wants to fall
👉 Govt must:
•Either raise interest rates (loses monetary policy)
•Or control capital
•Or let currency fall
👉 Hence → Impossible Trinity
💥Example 1: India (Most Relevant)
👉 India wants:
• Independent monetary policy (RBI controls inflation)
• Capital flows (FDI/FPI allowed)
👉 So what must be sacrificed?
❌ Fixed exchange rate
📚 What happens in reality:
•If RBI cuts interest rates →
👉 Foreign investors may pull money out
👉 Rupee falls
👉 RBI does NOT fix exchange rate strictly
✔ It allows rupee to fluctuate (managed float)
💥Example 2: China
👉 China wants:
• Fixed exchange rate (stable yuan)
• Independent monetary policy
👉 So what must be sacrificed?
❌ Free capital movement
📚What happens:
•Strict capital controls
•Money cannot freely move in/out
👉 This helps China control both currency + interest rates

💥INDIAN ECONOMY PRELIMS STRATEGY : “PYQs + Concepts + Elimination = Selection.”
🎯 CORE RULE FOR PRELIMS :
👉 Economy = Concept + Application + PYQ patterns
1. SOURCE PRIORITY (Don’t overdo)
Fix sources. Revise 5 times.
•NCERT (11th + 12th basics)
•One standard book (Sriram / Vivek Singh)
•Current Affairs (last 1–1.5 year)
•PYQs = MUST
👉 If conflict → PYQ wins
2. HOW UPSC ASKS ECONOMY (Pattern decoding)
🎯Type 1: Concept + Application
•Example: Inflation, Repo rate
👉 UPSC twists basic concepts
🎯Type 2: Statement-based traps
•“All / None / Only 1”
👉 Eliminate using logic, not memory
🎯Type 3: Current Affairs + Static combo
•Example: CBDC + monetary policy
👉 Link news with concepts
3. HIGH-YIELD AREAS (80/20 RULE)
🎯Monetary System
•Repo, Reverse Repo, CRR, SLR
•Inflation types
•Monetary transmission
🎯Banking & Financial System
•NPAs, Basel norms
•Payment systems (UPI, CBDC)
🎯Fiscal
•FRBM, deficit types
•Taxation basics (direct vs indirect)
🎯External Sector
•BoP, CAD
•Exchange rate
•WTO basics
🎯Schemes + Reports
•IMF, World Bank
•Govt schemes (esp. economic ones)
🎯 Agriculture
• MSP, subsidies
• natural farming , cropping patterns, linking with climate , allied sectors , schemes
4. ELIMINATION TECHNIQUE (GAME CHANGER)
👉 Use Common Sense + Extremes rule
•“Always / Only / Completely” ❌ (mostly wrong)
•Balanced statements ✔️
👉 If 2 statements are opposite → 1 is correct
5. CURRENT AFFAIRS APPROACH
👉 Don’t mug news, decode it
Example:
•Repo rate ↑ → inflation ↓ → growth impact
• connect repo with foreign exchange - cause | effect Mcqs
👉 Always ask:
•Concept behind news?
•Static link?
6. REVISION STRATEGY
👉 3-layer revision:
1.Concepts
2.PYQs
3.Mistakes notebook
👉 Last 15 days:
•Only revise
•No new sources
7. MOST COMMON MISTAKES
❌ Reading multiple books
❌ Ignoring PYQs
❌ Mugging definitions without application
❌ Fear of economy (biggest mistake)
⚡ FINAL MANTRA
👉 “Economy is logic, not memory.”
📚BONUS (Your exam hack)
If stuck between options:
•Choose the one with balanced + logical economic behaviour

📚 Radiation-based wastewater treatment is in PIB news.
Here’s the crisp extraction from this PIB news for Prelims and Mains both 👇
☑️PRELIMS POINTERS (Very Important)
💥Core Concept: Radiation-based wastewater treatment
•Uses ionizing radiation (gamma/e-beam) to:
•Break down complex dye molecules
•Reduce chemical oxygen demand (COD) & toxicity
•No need for heavy chemicals → eco-friendly
☑️Key Facts (Direct Prelims fodder)
•Location: Jodhpur
•Industry: Cotton textile printing & dyeing
•75 KLD (Kilo Litres per Day) test facility
•30,00,000+ litres wastewater treated
•Treated water → reused for industrial purposes
☑️Institutional Angle
•Technology developed under Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) ecosystem
•Linked with:
•Radiation processing applications
•Nuclear technology in civilian use
☑️Process Terms (Important MCQs)
•ToT (Technology Transfer) → Given to private entrepreneurs
•Radiation grafted cartridges → used in treatment
•Non-exclusive licensing → multiple firms can adopt
☑️Possible Prelims Questions
👉 Which of the following are advantages of radiation-based wastewater treatment?
•No chemical sludge
•Effective for toxic dyes
•Enables reuse
🎯Answer: All correct
👉 75 KLD refers to?
→ Treatment capacity per day
✍️ MAINS ANGLE (GS-3: Science & Tech + Environment)
☑️Intro
Radiation-based technologies are emerging as sustainable solutions for industrial wastewater, especially in textile clusters.
☑️Significance
•Environmental sustainability
•Reduces hazardous dye pollutants
•Water conservation
•Enables reuse → important for water-stressed regions
•Industrial efficiency
•Supports circular economy
•Tech diffusion Via ToT to private players
☑️Challenges
•High initial cost
•Need for skilled manpower
•Public perception issues regarding “radiation”
•Regulatory approvals
☑️Way Forward
•Scale through PPP model
•Awareness on safe radiation use
•Integration with Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) policies
☑️Conclusion (Use in answers)
Radiation-based wastewater treatment reflects how nuclear science can contribute to sustainable development, aligning with India’s goals of green industrialization and resource efficiency.

☑️Use of Technology in Health Research – Key Takeaways
1. Stem Cell Therapy for Autism
•National Medical Commission (NMC) issued advisory:
•Stem cell therapy NOT allowed for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
•No scientific evidence → considered unethical & illegal promotion.
•Can be used only for 32 approved conditions (as per ICMR guidelines).
•Linked to Supreme Court concerns over misleading claims.
