Episode 11: Qs About the World With My Best Friend (Part 1)
Welcome to a new little adventure I’m calling Sofea and Friends — because I thought it was time to add some extra flavour to my usual Sunday reflections 🌞✨
This episode was recorded in one sitting, but if you know anything about what happens when I’m with my best friend… the yapping never ends 😅 So here’s part one of what will likely be a whole mini-series of our chats
In this first part, we touch on my experience with heartbreak, and how it shaped my self-esteem and the way I see myself. I genuinely believe that healing happens when we can speak about the things that hurt, without pretending and without drowning in it. Somewhere in the ache, we find lessons — about life, about how fragile and beautiful we are, about the heart, and even about God. I don’t know if that makes sense, but I feel it deeply.

Repost from TRAIN TALKS 🕊️
Sofea’s random late night thoughts - Special Edition 🌍🩺
Happy World Mental Health Day 💙
Key messages:
- Take some time today to reflect on your growth
- Emotions, ideally, need to be processed throughout the day. Suppressing them can lead to restlessness or disrupts sleep quality at night
- Express your emotions in a way that works for you (e.g., men uses emotional language that relates to their physicality)
- Prioritise your mental health
A challenge for YOU and I to try!
1️⃣ take at least one hour away from technological devices before bed
2️⃣ pick a day and do something unproductive (stop worrying, just relax)
3️⃣ connection to God, art and nature
4️⃣ spend time in solitude to recharge
5️⃣ take a break from responsibility (say NO, instead of YES when necessary — its not about running away, its about setting boundaries)
6️⃣ enjoy some time alone at home
*sometimes the most productive thing we can do is rest — i think we all owe that to ourselves 🩷

bring this back because we all need a bit of a reminder sometimes 🫶🏻
have a blessed Friday x

Episode 10: YOU Matter
mental health month — should be everyday and every second. but i guess it is a reminder every year that we always have to make space for others and also, ourselves ❤️
traintalks actually have 2 therapists under the Soluna Space initiative we came up with in 2023, and good news is — it is still going subhanAllah. I’m very very proud of you guys for taking this step and looking out for your own mental health.
for some of you who maybe still need a push, i hope this episode will do something for you inshaAllah 🩷
love always,
sofea ❤️

Episode 9: Time and Friendship
Back with another reflection - yes, a very delayed one apologies for that! In this episode, I spoke about *time* and *adult/female friendships*. You will find me going on a tangent at some point but I hope you’ll get some beautiful lessons because I definitely got some clarity as I process what a crazy week I just has last week.
Also, since it is mental health month (which should be every month), please look after yourself and take some breaks whenever you need. if you need support, come have a chat with me and I might be able to link you up with the right people who have the credentials.
Other than that, enjoy your week and I’ll speak to you soon
❤️,
Sofea

I can’t even begin to write a short caption for this week’s episode. but all I can say is that I had an awesome time debriefing in this episode about 2 workshops I attended today - Istikharah and Tawakkul + Power of Dua. I honestly cannot even do a screen hearing before posting this here so I genuinely hope that I am saying things that make sense.
Take care of yourself, make lots of duas and I will see you next weekend inshaAllah

Episode 7: Post-💔Reflection
Salaam my lovely TT fam❤️
It’s been a minute—hope you’re all doing okay 🫶🏻
In this episode, I’m opening up about some pain I’ve been going through and sharing what’s been helping me heal lately.
I’m still figuring things out, still learning to believe that I’m worthy of love and being accepted just as I am. Healing’s messy, and I didn’t really get that until it hit me hard.
InshaAllah things get better—and if you’re feeling the same way, just know I see you, and I believe you’ll be okay ❤️
Much love,
Sofea🫶🏻

Episode 6: Mid-Ramadan Check In
Salaam everyone,
We’re halfway through Ramadan, subhanallah! — exhaustion and burnout has entered my system (unfortunately, but Alhamdulillah) 🤍
This episode is a reminder to revisit and renew our intentions for the remaining nights of Ramadan, and embrace it with sincerity. Even if we’re feeling drained, remember that small, mindful acts of worship still has immense reward.
Let’s finish strong inshaAllah 🌙

Episode 5: Embracing Worship During Menstruation
Welcome back to our usual Sunday reflection!
Today, I’m sharing yet another raw and personal experience—one that many women can relate to but is rarely spoken about in depth. As we navigate the sacred month of Ramadan, there’s an unspoken struggle that comes with menstruation.
It’s a time when we are temporarily excused from fasting and prayer, yet many of us wrestle with feelings of guilt, frustration, or even a sense of missing out on spiritual growth.
In this episode, I want to unpack those emotions, reflect on how we can reframe our understanding of ibadah during this time, and embrace the many other beautiful ways we can worship Allah.
Let’s shift our perspective and find peace in His wisdom
Let me know your thoughts in the chat below 🤍

+1
🌙✨ Salaam, friends! ✨
With Ramadan being around the corner,....what’s everyone listening to or reading this Ramadan?
In this post, you will find some of the things I’ve enjoyed listening to and reading (inshaAllah I’ll make an effort to complete it this month!)
I find that having a plan or different spiritual activities help me stay intentional with my time, especially during moments when we’re given a "break" or are not able to fast.
Sometimes, we focus so much on physical acts of worship that we forget spiritual growth can take many forms—whether it’s reading a beneficial book, listening to an inspiring lecture, or simply taking time to reflect and connect with Allah in different ways.
I’d love to hear what you’re engaging with this Ramadan! What are you reading or listening to that’s bringing you closer to Allah? ❤️

Episode 3: Walking Dakwah - How My Hijab Opened Hearts and Minds
This week, I’m sharing a deeply personal reflection that moved me to tears — a moment at work where a student’s curiosity about Islam turned into a beautiful connection. It reminded me of the power of representation, the importance of embodying our faith, and how small acts of kindness can leave a lasting impact.
I also dive into a recent lecture on Islamic Psychology and how building good habits strengthens our character and emotional wellbeing.
Whether you’re Muslim or not, I hope this episode inspires you to reflect on the beauty of faith and the moments that shape who we are ❤️

Episode 2: Intention and Timing
A late Sunday Reflection
Sometimes, letting go feels like the hardest thing to do — until you do it for the sake of Allah. And then, life starts unfolding in ways you never imagined.
In this episode, I shared my reflection on ‘intention’ and trusting in God’s timing. Healing, growth and unexpected blessings are already written for you — all you have to do is align your heart and surrender. ❤️

This raw, unedited episode of a series (yet to be named, one we will come out with together inshaallah) is a safe space where I talk about my healing process and growth from what had weighed me down lately. no editing, no filters - just real talk about love, loss and finding purpose in the messiness of it all.
Join me as we reflect on the power of sisterhood, the beauty of aligning our intentions for Allah’s pleasure, and the reminders we all need to keep going, even when it feels hard.
Because sometimes, the most powerful conversations are the ones that aren’t perfect — they’re just real.
love,
ZS 🩷

Salaam beautiful friends,
Hope you’ve been well ❤️ I wanna quickly pop in and recommend a new must-listen podcast for anyone grappling with ADHD or supporting someone who is. It dives deep into the difficulties of managing people’s perceptions and judgments when revealing a mental health diagnosis—something so many of us struggle with in our communities.
The hosts, who are also my friends, interviewed Muntasser Al Habsi and got some practical tips and strategies for maintaining spirituality while dealing with ADHD, as well as the emotional journey of coming to terms with a diagnosis and treatment.
What makes this conversation so powerful is its Islamic perspective—something often missing from mainstream self-help books and Western psychology.
As Muslims, we need more resources like this that address mental health through the lens of our faith. This episode is not only insightful but also deeply relatable and empowering.
Hope yall can benefit from it as much as I did 🩷
talk soon, ZS

Salaam my lovely friends,
Welcome to another reflection with me — inshaAllah I want to be able to document my reflections on TrainTalks this year whenever I have the space and time to do it!
I love looking back at my life and see what lessons I have gained from them in hopes that I can change and be better in all aspects of life!
As we journey through the sacred months - Rajab and towards Ramadan (may Allah allow us to meet these months), I pray Allah replaces what was lost with something far better, fills your heart with tranquility, and strengthens your trust in His divine plan. May this new year be a better year for all of us inshaAllah!
Love,
ZS ♡
