Subject: Information Regarding the 1% JRF Criterion and Calculation of JRF Selection in UGC-NET/JRF Education (Subject Code 009)
Respected Sir/Madam,
I am seeking the following information under the Right to Information Act, 2005, regarding the JRF selection process and the correct application of the 1% criterion in UGC-NET/JRF Education (Subject Code 009):
1. Kindly provide a certified copy of the current official UGC/NTA rule, notification, guideline, or order regarding the 1% criterion applicable for the award of JRF.
2. Kindly clarify which candidates are considered as the denominator/base population for calculating the 1% criterion for JRF, such as appeared candidates, qualified candidates, or any other category of candidates.
3. In Education (Subject Code 009), 263 candidates have been qualified for JRF. Kindly provide a certified copy of the calculation/working sheet or relevant official record showing the official formula, rule, and methodology used to arrive at the final number of 263 JRF-qualified candidates.
4. Kindly provide the rule followed for fractional/decimal values and rounding-off while determining the number of JRF slots. A copy of the relevant official rule/document may kindly be provided.
5. If any reservation/roster, normalization, moderation, or any other methodology was used while determining the JRF slots, kindly provide the relevant official rule and calculation record.
6. Kindly provide the official methodology and relevant available record used for determining the category-wise JRF cutoff and merit in Education (Subject Code 009).
7. If the above calculation was carried out through any spreadsheet, software-generated report, database, or other electronic record, kindly provide the relevant record/copy that is available and disclosable under the RTI Act, 2005.
8. If any part of the information requested above is exempt from disclosure under the RTI Act, 2005, kindly provide the remaining information after removing the exempt portion and mention the specific exemption provision under which the information has been withheld.
The purpose of seeking this information is not to obtain the personal information of any candidate, but to verify the transparency and correctness of the calculation of the 1% JRF criterion and the determination of the number of JRF-qualified candidates in Education.

Subject- Urgent Grievance Regarding Incorrect Final Answer Key – Question ID 4818042982
Respected Sir/Madam,
I am writing to bring to your immediate attention a serious discrepancy in the Final Answer Key of the UGC NET June 2026 examination concerning Question ID 4818042982.
In the Final Answer Key, Option 2 has been declared as the correct answer. However, after carefully verifying the question from an authentic and authoritative academic source, it is evident that Option 4 is the correct answer.
As documentary evidence, I am attaching the relevant page/extract from the book “Universities in Ancient India” by D. G. Apte, which clearly supports Option 4 as the correct answer.
This discrepancy is extremely significant in my case because these 2 marks directly affect my eligibility for JRF. Due to the incorrect answer provided in the Final Answer Key, I am currently falling short of the JRF cut-off by 2 marks. Therefore, an incorrect key may have a direct and serious impact on my academic and research career.
I respectfully request the National Testing Agency to:
Re-examine Question ID 4818042982 on an urgent basis.
Verify the answer with the attached authentic academic reference.
Correct the Final Answer Key from Option 2 to Option 4, if confirmed upon expert review.
Revise the marks/result of affected candidates accordingly.
I understand that the Final Answer Key is prepared after expert scrutiny; however, when credible documentary evidence demonstrates a factual error, I sincerely request that the matter be reconsidered in the interest of accuracy, fairness, and justice to candidates.
Since this question may determine my eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), I request your immediate and kind intervention in this matter.
I am attaching the supporting proof from D. G. Apte’s “Universities in Ancient India” for your reference and verification.
I shall be highly grateful if this grievance is examined at the earliest and appropriate corrective action is taken.

Now listen very carefully, Option 3 is also not wrong, because Nalanda is situated near Rajgir or Rajgriha, and Rajgir was capital of Magadha
