l’occhiata divertita del capo potrebbe non significare che ha deciso di licenziarvi;
il vostro partner può ancora essere innamorato di voi anche se ieri non vi ha mandato un messaggio;
se vi è capitato di commettere uno sbaglio non significa che siete dei perfetti incapaci;
se alla fine di un litigio vostro figlio adolescente ha urlato che vi «odia», non significa che sia la verità, magari nel giro di poco verrà a dirvi che vi vuole bene;

We all have our history and we all have to cope with our problems:
Loss, rejection, abandonment and whatever other difficulties fate has in store for us.
However, these are aspects of life that do not define who we are; if anything, they can shape us according to how we choose to deal with them.
Everyone has heard the phrase: 'My mind has played a trick on me'.
Well, your mind can do a thousand different things that you are now unaware of:
e.g. erase inconvenient truths, or alter or make other scenarios catastrophic.
In our daily lives, these phenomena can manifest themselves in many different ways:
the boss's amused look may not mean that he has decided to fire you;
your partner may still be in love with you even though he did not send you a message yesterday;
if you happened to make a mistake, it doesn't mean that you are completely incompetent;
if, at the end of an argument, your teenage son shouted that he 'hates' you, it does not mean that it is the truth, maybe in a little while he will come and tell you that he loves you;
if the bartender gave you a dirty look today, it doesn't mean that he doesn't like you:
maybe he was just in a bad mood.

Dobbiamo parlare.

Everyone has their own Vietnam
Anyone who is a victim of violence (in the streets, at home) is 'the light at the top of the candle' and can be a powerful healing force in the world.
The way to that healing is through our suffering:
Looking deeply into our nature, speaking freely about how we feel, creating a language of feelings and using it to begin to break the silence so necessary to protect and perpetuate the cycles of violence and aggression.
Perhaps we believe we find safety in remaining silent, keeping the story of our traumas to ourselves: this is not true.
There is no safety in silence.
If we keep those stories to ourselves, if we keep the most important part of ourselves to ourselves, it is not as if others will not know about it or influence us in any way.
It is like standing in the middle of the desert with a sheet pulled over your head and thinking that by keeping the truth about our condition hidden, we will not die of thirst.
It is madness, this, and it is a form of violence against oneself.
The responsibility to begin the healing process, to begin to tell one's own
one's own story, is in the hands of each of us, individually.
We are the light at the top of the candle.
We have the ability to break through the darkness of removal, the darkness of society like our own.
We need to speak. We must speak.

The gap between who you are and who you want to become – between how you feel now and how you’d like to feel – is only bridged when you start acting differently.
You’re frustrated because you haven’t grown.
Nothing has changed, but nothing has changed because you haven’t changed.
To build self-confidence, you must take action even when you have doubts.
To find peace, you must learn to tolerate discomfort.
To create the life you desire, you must stop waiting for everything to seem easy before taking action.
The truth is simple.
True transformation begins when you step into the unknown, when you trust that what you want lies just on the other side of the action you’re afraid to take. | 904 |

🌊
For most of my life, I was a very sad and lonely little me, a depressed wave in the cosmic ocean of life.
I felt completely separated from that ocean, in deep conflict with myself and others, without a moment's peace.
For many years, I had tried desperately to fit in, to fit in, to connect with others, to find love, to find my place in the world, but despite all my efforts, I had fallen into a deepening depression.
I blamed everything and everyone for the way I felt: my genes, my brain chemistry, my upbringing, my parents, my friends, my boss, the cruelty of life, our money-obsessed society, the media, politicians, multinational corporations, crooks.
My despair did not depend on me, or so I thought.
It was the only possible response to a life that had turned against me.
Life was cruel, unfair and hostile, life had cursed me.
I blamed life for my despair, and I felt I had every right to do so.
"If you had gone through what I went through, you would feel the same way!"
With these words I justified my unhappiness to others.
In the midst of my deep depression, however, another possibility shone through:
Perhaps freedom had nothing to do with being a better wave of the ocean than the others.
Maybe that was my job, my true calling in life:
to deeply embrace the present experience, to let go of all ideas of how this moment should be, instead of upholding a false image of myself.
I began to find no interest in pretending to be something I was not.
I began to find no interest in resisting the present moment.
I discovered the deep acceptance inherent in every thought, every feeling, every emotion, and my suffering eventually crumbled.
I realised that there was nothing wrong with me, and never had been.
And I realised that this was also true for every other human being on the planet.

What does happiness mean to you?
When we were little, we were told we’d be happy when we grew up.
Now, at 20, we’re told we’ll be happy when we have a job, a home, someone by our side – and so we spend our lives chasing something that always seems further and further away.
But happiness isn’t a destination.
Perhaps it isn’t a goal to be achieved, but a feeling that washes over you without warning.
It’s a laugh that makes your stomach ache, a sunset that takes you by surprise as you walk home on those nights when you talk to someone until you lose track of time.
In moments that seem small but which one day you’ll remember as the greatest.
The truth is, you don’t need to have everything to be happy.
You need to stop believing that happiness is always somewhere else.
Because life won’t wait for you, and if you don’t learn to recognise it now in the simple things, you risk chasing it forever without realising you’ve already experienced it. | 1 126 |
