The golden advice of ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه “There’s nothing more sufficient than when someone disobeys Allāh in dealing with you, you do nothing but obey Allāh in dealing with him. Place the affairs of your brother when they reach you upon the best of interpretations until there comes to you clarity which overcomes that. Do not think ill of a statement which comes from another Muslim if you can find a good interpretation for it. Whoever exposes himself to suspicion let him not blame those who then think badly of him, and whoever conceals his secrets, strength of choice will be in his hands. Hold fast to truthful companions, live with them closely for they are a charm at times of ease and an aid at times of difficulty. Stick to the truth even if the truth kills you, and do not involve yourself with issues that don’t concern you. Do not ask about things which haven’t taken place for indeed, that which has already taken place is enough to preoccupy you from it! Do not seek help or take your affairs to someonewho doesn’t wish to see you succeed, and do not befriend the sinful lest you learn from his sins and evil. Keep away from your enemy and be cautious of even your friend, except for the truthful and trusted friend. And no-one is trustworthy except him who fears Allāh. Humble yourself at the graves, lower yourself in obedience and stand firm against disobedience. And when it comes to your affairs, seek counsel only from those who truly fear Allāh for indeed, Allah says, إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْعُلَمَاءُ “…Indeed, it is only those who have knowledge among His Slaves, that truly fear Allāh.” [Sūrah al-Fatir, Verse 28] (Narrated by Sa'id ibn al Musayyib, in ’Rawdhat al-‘Uqala’)

💫 Sayyid al-Istighfār: The Best Prayer for Seeking Forgiveness Narrated Shaddād ibn Aws رضي الله عنه: The Prophet (ﷺ) said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allāh is: اللهم أنت ربي، لا إله إلا أنت ، خلقتني وأنا عبدك، وأنا على عهدك ووعدك ما استطعت أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت أبوء لك بنعمتك علي، وأبوء بذنبي، فاغفر لي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت The Prophet (ﷺ) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise." [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6306] Transliteration: Allāhumma anta rabbī, lā ilāha illā ant, khalaqtanī wa-anā ʿabduk, wa-anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa-waʿdika mā’istaṭaʿt, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿt, abūʾu laka bi-niʿmatika ʿalayy, wa-abūʾu laka bidhanbī, fa’ighfir lī, fa-innahu lā yaghfir al-dhunūba illā ant. Translation: O Allāh, You are my Lord, there is no God but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise (to honour it) as best as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil that I have committed. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for surely none can forgive sins but You.

Ahead of the World Cup match between Egypt and Iran in Seattle, both football associations reportedly asked FIFA to distance the fixture from the city's planned Pride celebrations, arguing that the event conflicted with the religious and cultural values of their nations. FIFA declined to make changes, allowing the match to proceed as Seattle's designated Pride Match while also permitting rainbow flags inside the stadium. The decision has drawn criticism from many Muslims, who argue that once two Muslim-majority nations were drawn to play on Seattle's Pride Match Day, FIFA should have taken steps to accommodate their concerns and show greater respect for their religious sensitivities.

O Allāh, the Most Merciful, the Provider, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer, grant us abundant and blessed rizq that is ḥalāl and sufficient. Place barakah in our wealth, our earnings, our time, and our lives, and make us among those who are grateful for every blessing You bestow. O Allāh, bless us with righteous spouses who will be the coolness of our eyes, bless our marriages with love, mercy, and tranquillity, and grant us righteous children who worship You, uphold the truth, and become a source of ongoing reward for us in this life and the next. O Allāh, enrich us through Your bounty, protect us from poverty and debt, make us content with what You have decreed, and never let the love of this world distract us from Your remembrance or obedience. Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. Āmīn.

Muḥarram 10th is the Day of ʿĀshūrāʾ, which marks the day Allāh saved Mūsā عليه السلام and his people from the oppressive Pharaoh. Ibn al-ʿAbbās رضي الله عنه reported that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ arrived in Madīnah and found the Jews observing fast on the day of ʿĀshūrāʾ. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said to them: “What is the significance of this day that you observe fast on it?” They said: It is the day of great (significance) when Allāh delivered Mūsā and his people, and drowned the Pharaoh and his people, and Moses observed fast out of gratitude and we also observe it. Upon this the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “We have more right, and we have a closer connection with Moses than you have; so Allāh's Messenger ﷺ observed fast (on the day of ʿĀshūrāʾ), and gave orders that it should be observed.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1130c] The Day of ʿĀshūrāʾ also marks the day in which the Grandson of the Prophet ﷺ Al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī رضي الله عنه was martyred in Karbala. May Allāh grant him company with our beloved Prophet ﷺ, and to raise his status above that which is falsely attibuted to him.

When the Prophet ﷺ arrived at Madīnah, he noticed that some people among the Jews used to respect ʿĀshūrāʾ (10th of Muḥarram) and fast on it. The Prophet ﷺ then said, "We have more right to observe fast on this day" and ordered that fasting should be observed on it. [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3942]

And remember when Lūt rebuked the men of his people: “You certainly commit a shameful deed that no man has ever done before you. Help me against the people of corruption.” [Sūrah al-ʿAnkabūt, Verse 28-30]

Narrated by Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet ﷺ said, “No prayer is heavier upon the hypocrites than the Fajr and the ʿIshā' prayers and if they knew what is in them in reward, they would have attended them, even if it was by crawling…” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 657]

Muslim police officer Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, 34, was killed in the line of duty while responding to a shooting at a Jewish neighbourhood in Montreal. He had served with the SPVM since 2021 and was among the officers who responded to reports of an armed suspect. Another officer was seriously wounded and is now in stable condition. His death is the first line-of-duty death of a Montreal police officer in 24 years. Regardless of religion or background, Islam teaches justice and condemns the unlawful taking of innocent life. We ask Allāh to grant patience and strength to his family, loved ones, and all those affected by this tragedy.

Hollywood actor Giancarlo Esposito, who was well known for playing the role of Gus Fring in Breaking Bad, has reportedly embraced Islam whilst filming a project in Saudi Arabia. Turki Alalshikh, a government official in Saudi Arabia, who is the chairman of the General Entertainment Authority posted on X: “Giancarlo Esposito, the movie and Breaking Bad star, recites the Shahada and joins the crew for prayer yesterday at the mosque after feeling at ease dealing with Muslims during filming in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia… Praise be to Allāh”.

All praise is for Allāh, Ar-Raḥmān, Ar-Raḥīm, Al-Ghafūr, Al-Karīm, and Ar-Razzāq. We praise You for every blessing You have bestowed upon us, both seen and unseen. There is none worthy of worship except You, and to You alone we turn in hope and repentance. O Allāh, send Your peace and blessings upon Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ. O Allāh, as You made the month of Muḥarram a blessed month and saved Your Prophet Mūsā عليه السلام from Firʿawn and his army, save us from our sins, our hardships, and everything that distances us from You. Just as You made a way through the sea when there seemed to be no way, make a way for us through every difficulty and grant us relief from every burden. Our Lord, we repeat the beautiful supplication of Mūsā عليه السلام: "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in desperate need." O Allāh, send down upon us Your goodness. Bless us with lawful and abundant wealth, place barakah in our earnings, and make our provision a means of drawing closer to You rather than away from You. O Allāh, bless us with righteous spouses who will be the coolness of our eyes, fill our marriages with love, mercy, and tranquillity, and bless our families with faith, unity, good health, and steadfastness upon Your religion. O Allāh, You are Al-Ghaffār, At-Tawwāb, and Al-ʿAfūw. Forgive our sins, overlook our shortcomings, conceal our faults, accept our repentance, and purify our hearts. Do not let this blessed month pass except that You have forgiven us, had mercy upon us, and written us among Your righteous servants. Accept our prayers, our fasting, our charity, and every sincere act of worship. Answer our duʿāʾs, rectify our affairs, and grant us goodness in this life and the Hereafter. Indeed, You are As-Samīʿ, Al-Mujīb, and Al-Qadīr. Āmīn.
