🇺🇸 Fed Chair Warsh sounds HAWKISH at Jackson Hole:
1. Inflation is better but still sticky.
2. The Fed is sticking to its 2% inflation target.
3. The economy is strong: solid spending, stable jobs, rising investment.
4. Rates may not be high enough yet.
5. Most Fed officials wanted to wait before changing rates.

| 4 | One thing I don’t understand is why everyone is already so hyped about the DXY dump and acting like the dollar is finished.
A significant part of the initial move wasn’t simply an organic shift in supply and demand. Japan and the US carried out a rare coordinated FX intervention after the yen came under extreme pressure. Japan’s intervention was estimated at up to $85B over July 30–31, while the US participation was much smaller but sent an important policy signal. (Goldman Sachs)
There was also a Treasury-market angle to this. Japan holds a massive amount of US Treasuries, and one concern was that supporting the yen through large-scale Treasury sales could put even more upward pressure on US yields. The US involvement, including access to mechanisms that allowed Japanese authorities to obtain dollars against Treasuries rather than selling them outright, appears to have helped reduce that risk. That’s why I’m hesitant to extrapolate the initial DXY move and immediately conclude that the dollar is about to get destroyed.
At the same time, I wouldn’t say the entire DXY dump was artificial. There are genuine fundamental pressures on the dollar as well. US fiscal concerns, elevated long-term yields and the Treasury’s expansion of its bond-buyback program have all contributed to uncertainty around the dollar. The Treasury recently increased its long-duration buybacks as policymakers try to improve liquidity in a stressed bond market.
Another important point: intervention by itself usually doesn’t permanently change the direction of a currency unless the underlying fundamentals change with it. The yen initially moved from roughly ¥164 to ¥155, but has already weakened back toward ¥159.
So for now, I’m not convinced that DXY is ready to completely break down.
I actually think there is a decent possibility of a DXY bounce, and if that happens alongside USD/JPY recovering and/or tighter financial conditions, it could have a meaningful impact across risk assets especially crypto. I am not saying the whole move on BTC will get erased
For me, the key is watching DXY + USD/JPY + US Treasury yields together, rather than looking at DXY in isolation.

Everyone only busy with trying to predict a bottom or no bottom. Imo its irrelevant. If you believe we started the bullmarket we have 2 years to go :) so stop crying after a 20% move on bitcoin. And if you believe bottom is not in than have a plan B as well.
