📣 Generate New Keys, GitHub Payments Done, Validators Call Schedule Hello Nodes Team, Our much anticipated change in cryptography is done and deployed via patch v1.0.94. Your validators will update and start as observers - this is normal. There will also not be a running blockchain this round, we first need your new keys for whitelisting. So, you need to generate new keys. We've rewarded the GitHub contributions, thank you to all! Scheduling the validator call turned out tricky, availability is an issue, so we created a poll. 👉 Please do: generate new key pairs for your nodes 1. Update your node to the latest version, either via auto-update or by running ./script.sh upgrade 2. Go to the utils folder and use the key generator to generate new .pem files, by running these commands:

3. Copy the .pem files to the right directories - node & backup

cp *.pem $HOME/elrond-nodes/node-0/config
zip node-0.zip *.pem

📣 Validator Staking Calculator & Genesis Node Whitelisting Hello Nodes Team, Phase 2 of our bootstrapping process is near. We're excited to launch with 1.500 nodes, which makes us one of the biggest blockchains, straight from Day 1. Here's how you can run a node from the very beginning and start earning some of the most competitive rewards in the PoS space. Battle of Nodes veterans will get the chance to spin up the first nodes, help bootstrap the network and get rewarded for their service. We are creating an overview about how many nodes you want to run, so we can analyze your request and whitelist your application. 🚧 Patch v1.0.92 is live-ish Hello Nodes Team, Patch v1.0.91 was dead on arrival, due to the low number of online nodes, or so we thought. As a result, we purged the BoNwards registration. Only the online nodes during v1.0.91 are left. You can check by querying the lovely BoN monitoring bot, @DrDelphi was kind enough to help. Patch v1.0.92 is displaying the same behavior - metachain is not starting and some nodes are not synching. We're troubleshooting. 📣 Patch v1.0.84 is live Hello Nodes Team, The much anticipated patch is live! We are releasing a new feature today, End of Epoch, see below. We will use an older version of the libp2p libraries, while the P2P bug gets fixed. Your nodes are still observers, we will snapshot the ones online and include them as validators in the next patch. 👉 Please do: Turn your nodes back on if you haven't already 🧐 Why is my node an observer? The earlier announcement today got mixed responses, so we decided to make sure the blockchain has enough online validators to start. We will add those nodes which we see as online observers in the next patch, in the next 1-2 days. ⏰ End of Epoch: Elrond time is split in "rounds" - 6s, the amount of time needed to mint a block, and "epochs". An Epoch is the amount of time nodes in Elrond will stay in the same shard. Our Adaptive State Sharding mechanism will shuffle nodes between shards every Epoch, for security -> less time for validators to collude and form a malicious group. ⏱ Epoch duration on mainnet will be 24h. For now, we will test with an Epoch duration of 600rounds, aka 3.600 seconds, aka 1 hour. This is to see as many "end of epoch" events as possible. 🚧 This first public release of the End of Epoch mechanism will shuffle nodes inside the shards only. This is an important change, you will see your nodes now assigned to a shard, but some will be assigned to a "waiting list". On the mainnet, validators will not always be assigned to a shard, but will periodically be shuffled out of the shard into a waiting list, stay there for an epoch, and then get assigned to a random new shard in the next epoch. Don't worry, validator rewards will overall be the same, regardless of "luck" for being shuffled out more often than others. More on that later.
