Climate action is stronger when we act together.
The Action Coordination Group (ACG) is an official structure of CAN EECCA that brings together activists, campaigners, and communicators from across Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.
Through the ACG, members coordinate regional mobilizations, support joint campaigns, connect with global Climate Action Network initiatives, and build solidarity across the region.
The group is currently facilitated by Nugzar Kokhreidze, who helps coordinate its work and represents the ACG within CAN EECCA's Extended Board.
Swipe through to learn more about how the ACG turns shared strategies into coordinated climate action. 🌍💚

"The fight for truth has become as important today as reducing emissions. "
- Statement made by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on the first day of COP30.
Climate disinformation was explicitly addressed at COP30 as a structural challenge to climate action. Public narratives increasingly frame fossil fuels and climate change in a positive or misleading way.
One recent example is “Coalie”, a mascot introduced in the United States to promote fossil fuel messaging.
Similar patterns are visible across many regions.
In the EECCA region, climate disinformation is reinforced by limited access to environmental data and chronic underfunding of independent media. As a result, the scale and consequences of climate change are insufficiently analysed and verified. This weakens public understanding and slows down climate reforms by undermining trust in science and evidence based decision making.
At COP30, 21 countries endorsed the Declaration on Information Integrity on Climate Change. The declaration prioritises fact based climate reporting and opens access to funding for investigative climate journalism. No country from the EECCA region has signed the declaration so far.
Reliable climate information has already shown measurable impact. In Georgia, the Gavigudet initiative enabled local activists and experts to collect and analyse independent air pollution data. This helped demonstrate the scale of the problem and contributed to air quality improvements of approximately 30 percent. The availability of credible data supported more effective policy responses.
Access to reliable climate information directly shapes policy outcomes. Strengthening information integrity is a necessary step for the EECCA region to address current and future climate risks.
What steps should be prioritised to counter climate disinformation in the EECCA region?

🌍💚 COP30 RECAP
Earlier at COP30, our network of regional experts came together at the WHO Pavilion for the session “Leaving no one behind: addressing the climate–health burden on vulnerable groups in the EECCA region.”
The discussion highlighted how climate impacts in our region are increasingly becoming public health risks, from rising temperatures and air pollution to water stress and climate-driven diseases. Speakers shared concrete examples of how governments, NGOs, local authorities, and tech actors can work together to safeguard vulnerable communities.
Key takeaways:
🔸 climate and health policies must be aligned
🔸 vulnerable groups need targeted adaptation support
🔸 early-warning systems and accessible healthcare are essential
🔸 local authorities must be equipped and financed to act
As we reflect on COP30, the message remains clear: protecting the most vulnerable is central to effective climate action in EECCA.
