The End of an Era. The Beginning of Immortality.
JEX is dead. Long live JEX.
Every adventure eventually reaches a point where continuing no longer makes sense. After years of building, experimenting, taking risks, and pushing boundaries, we have reached that point with JEX. For the past two years, the conditions required for the project to succeed have progressively disappeared. The environment has changed, the challenges have grown, and the balance between risk and reward has fundamentally shifted. Today, the risks of continuing to operate the JEX DEX far outweigh any potential benefits. This is not a decision we take lightly, but it is the responsible decision to make.
The regulatory and economic environment no longer supports the original vision. Operating a decentralized exchange in today's European environment means facing increasingly complex regulatory requirements, including MiCA and the French PSAN framework. These obligations create significant legal, operational, and compliance challenges that are increasingly difficult to justify for a project of our current size. At the same time, activity and revenues have fallen to near-zero levels. Maintaining and developing the infrastructure under these conditions is no longer economically sustainable. A protocol cannot survive on its original ambitions alone; it needs an environment in which those ambitions can realistically be achieved.
Liquidity has dried up, while security risks continue to grow. With liquidity and trading activity at extremely low levels, the economic foundations of the DEX are no longer strong enough to justify the risks associated with its continued operation. Meanwhile, the security landscape is evolving rapidly. AI is making it easier to discover vulnerabilities, automate attack strategies, and exploit weaknesses in increasingly sophisticated ways. We have experienced these challenges firsthand, both within the JEX protocol itself and across the MultiversX Virtual Machine (MvX VM) ecosystem. Continuing to operate a complex financial protocol under these conditions would mean exposing users, liquidity providers, and the remaining ecosystem to risks that we can no longer responsibly justify.
What happens next?
This decision marks the end of active development and expansion for the JEX DEX. Existing liquidity pools will remain operational and continue generating fees, while deposits and withdrawals will remain available through the Xoxno Swap feature. All fees generated will be used exclusively to buy back and burn JEX, creating a simple and transparent purpose for the protocol's remaining activity. The orderbook's solvency will be restored to 100% within the next 5–6 days.
We are not pretending that JEX can return to what it once was. We are choosing to preserve what can still be preserved, reduce unnecessary exposure, and stop pursuing a vision whose conditions for success no longer exist.
JEX is dead, but JEX is immortal.
The product, as we knew it, is coming to an end. The adventure, the lessons, the community, and the token's legacy remain. JEX will no longer chase growth at any cost. From now on, its purpose is simpler: preserve what remains, operate within a reduced scope, and direct all generated fees toward buying back and burning JEX.
Thank you to everyone who built with us, traded with us, provided liquidity, challenged us, and believed in the project along the way. Every adventure has an ending.
