cold shoulder Has anyone ever given you the cold shoulder? When someone gives you the cold shoulder, it means that they are ignoring you. I thought that this was a good phrase for today because it had the word cold in it and as you can see, we're having a little bit of a snow storm here in Canada. It's really cool. But anyways, sometimes when you go to a party and you see someone you know and you go over to talk to them and they just kind of turn and walk away, we would say that they're giving you the cold shoulder. Or maybe you go to family event and you and your sister aren't getting along and when you go to the family dinner or the family reunion, your sister gives you the cold shoulder. That would mean that she kind of ignores you and doesn't give you very much attention. It's kinda rude to give someone the cold shoulder but it does happen sometimes when you don't get along, sometimes people give you the cold shoulder. @eft1397
