Simply say you are concerned about our food supply and you would like him to be a cosponsor of the Prime Act. It’s so important to give a feedback count to the leaders spearheading this for North Carolina! Why: Our food supply chain since the covid years has never recovered. The Prime Act, sponsored by Thomas Massey from Kentucky, would help smaller meat packers (custom slaughter houses) that are selling within their own states to compete. The bill allows for State Inspections, rather than the federal USDA to make sure the meat served at our tables is of high quality. State inspections are at least as stringent as USDA inspections, or more so. Remember when the 5 major USDA Inspection sites around the country were shut down due to covid policy and our grocery shelves were cleaned out? We need more local capacity by supporting meat packing locally. The bills are: H.R.2814 in the US House of Representatives and S.907 in the US Senate (Angus King).
