🔆Exercise AIKYA
✅Recently, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), in collaboration with the Southern Command of the Indian Army organised a two-day national symposium, ‘Exercise AIKYA’, on disaster management in Chennai.
✅Aikya, meaning "Oneness" in Tamil, reflects the exercise's aim to integrate India's Disaster Management community.
✅It brought together key stakeholders from across Peninsular India to enhance disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
✅The exercise witnessed participation from six southern states/UTs: Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Puducherry

🔆Harappan civilisation
✅The Harappan civilisation was first brought to light on September 20, 1924, with the publication of an article in The Illustrated London News by John Marshall, the then Director-General of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
✅This civilisation, also known as the Indus Valley Civilisation, is celebrated for its advanced town planning, water harvesting, metallurgy, and pottery making.
✅Two ASI archaeologists, Daya Ram Sahni and Rakhal Das Banerji, were instrumental in the discovery of Harappa and Mohenjo-daro respectively, both now in Pakistan.
✅Significant sites include Mohenjo-daro, Harappa, Ganweriwala, Rakhigarhi, and Dholavira.
✅The Harappan civilisation’s most characteristic features included the developed Indus script, standardised measures, burnt brick construction, and exquisite lapidary art.
✅Historian Vincent Smith noted that the discovery of this civilisation pushed back the antiquity of settled life in South Asia by more than 3,000 years.
