I’ve used Linux for years and never found a proper G HUB alternative, so I made one for the G502 HERO I’ve been on Linux for a long time and G HUB is the one thing I never managed to replace. Piper, Solaar and OpenRGB are great, but each only covers part of it, and I wanted DPI, lighting, buttons and per-game stuff (like the mouse glowing in Uncharted’s colors) in one place. So I built it. **What it does:** * DPI levels, sniper button, report rate * Lighting saved on the mouse itself, so it works without the app running * Live lighting while the app is open (follows your screen, reacts to audio, DPI colors) * All 11 buttons including G-Shift, plus the 5 onboard profiles (rename, copy, export/import, backup) * Per-game/per-app rules, like red while YouTube plays, or a profile and cover-art colors when a Steam game starts * Macros, CS2/Dota 2 lighting, and an experimental bridge for Proton games **Heads up:** * Only supports the wired G502 HERO (046d:c08b), because it’s the one I own * I use EndeavourOS + KDE Plasma 6 on Wayland. Most things should work elsewhere, but rules based on the focused window need KDE for now * DPI, lighting, buttons and profiles are solid on my mouse. Macros, the CS2/Dota 2 stuff and the Proton bridge are new and barely tested, so treat them as beta * It writes to the mouse’s onboard memory, but backs it up first and you can restore it * Unofficial, not affiliated with Logitech. GPL-3.0, no account, no telemetry **Install:** curl -fsSL https://g502hub.ahmedxsaad.me/install.sh | sh (Arch users can build a pacman package instead, instructions on the site. AUR is coming once registration reopens.) Site: [https://g502hub.ahmedxsaad.me](https://g502hub.ahmedxsaad.me) Source: [https://github.com/Ahmedxsaad/g502-hub](https://github.com/Ahmedxsaad/g502-hub) If you have a G502 HERO, I’d love to hear how it goes, especially if you try the macros or game features and something breaks. https://redd.it/1xfh5tt @r_linux

Pre-Alpha Linux Subsystem on Android — Looking for Testers with Rooted Phones and Linux Contributors Hey everyone, I'm developing Linux Subsystem on Android (LSA), an experimental project that runs a native Linux userspace on rooted Android devices while keeping Android as the host operating system. The goal isn't just to run a Linux desktop. I'm trying to make Android's hardware and services usable through normal Linux interfaces, without requiring applications to be rewritten for Android. LSA uses the Android kernel directly. It's not PRoot, emulation, or a VM. What's currently working in development testing on a Blackview N6000: Debian ARM64 with a graphical desktop and native Linux applications Hardware-accelerated OpenGL through Mesa/VirGL and Android's GPU stack Audio playback and microphone capture USB storage integration, including automatic NTFS mounting Applications including Firefox, OpenArena, and SuperTuxKart This is still pre-alpha. Some applications require workarounds, graphics compatibility is incomplete, and hardware support varies. Some of the results above are from a private development preview and may not be present in the current public release. I'm looking for people who have spare rooted Android phones and are willing to help test LSA on different hardware. Useful experience includes Android rooting, ADB, Linux debugging, shell scripting, Mesa/VirGL, graphics drivers, audio, and embedded Linux. You don't need to be an expert. There are two ways to help: Independent testing: Try LSA on a spare device, collect logs, report bugs, and share hardware compatibility results. No remote access required. Direct development collaboration: For volunteers who want more involved help, I'm open to supervised SSH debugging on a dedicated test device. Any access would be optional, explicitly authorized, and governed by a written agreement restricting my activity to the agreed testing and development work. Please don't run this on your primary phone or anything you can't recover. This is experimental rooted system software, and things can break. GitHub: https://github.com/Phsphorus/LinuxSubsystemOnAndroid If you're interested, let me know your phone model, chipset, Android version, and rooting method. I'm also looking for feedback from people familiar with Linux systems programming or Android internals. Thanks! Disclaimer: This project has been developed with the assistance of AI. I'm not an expert in every field this project covers, and I don't claim to be. LSA is an experimental learning project, and I welcome technical feedback, corrections, and contributions. A dream can only be achieved if you try. \--- Example of the experimental UI. https://preview.redd.it/b3xipidwroxh1.png?width=552&format=png&auto=webp&s=3959c54b3b3fcc23b3cc5e422f93d3ef04a38396 https://redd.it/1xff7wx @r_linux
