This command is used to execute the commands that can only be executed by super user or root. The users with root access can be found at “/etc/sudoers” file. Options: -V Display the version -l Display the commands that can be executed as a “sudo” user. -h Display help text -b Run the given command in background. Example: To install any package in centos you need to use “yum install” command. But normal user cannot run this command. Hence use “sudo yum install gvim” to install as a super user. It might prompt you to enter the password.
