Frank Ocean chose Eyes by The Collaborationist (photographers) featuring a twelve year old girl Angel, as the inspiration for the album.
In August 2016, along with his second studio album, he released a 370-page magazine called Boys Don't Cry, which includes photos, interviews, poems, etc.
In the opening lines of his magazine, he describes how this photo inspired the album:
”Two years ago, I found an image of a kid with her hands covering her face. A seatbelt reached across her torso, riding up her neck, and a mop of blonde hair stayed swept, for the moment, behind her ears. Her eyes seemed clear and calm but not blank; the road behind her seemed the same. …“

Michael is known for his production work for Frank Ocean, Donald Glover, Beyonce and Rosalía. He worked on the 2016 LP "Blonde" and also lend a hand to his visual album "Endless". In 2017, he appeared as co-producer on Ocean‘s single "Chanel" and later in 2019, Uzowuru appeared on the production and writing credits of the single "In My Room".
"Michael is a friend I talk to about where I'm at artistically very often.", Frank said.

Directed by Barry Jenkins, Moonlight (2016) tells the story of a young man's struggle to find himself, told through three defining chapters of his life as he experiences the ecstasy, pain and beauty of falling in love while struggling with his own sexuality. The film didn’t just make a point of what it is to be queer under dark circumstances but it also dissected masculinity and what the black queer experience in the South is like.
This brings us to Frank, who raised in the South in Louisiana. Just like Chiron. Ocean is a queer black man, as is Chiron in the film. No, he didn’t help write the film, his music isn’t even featured in the film. However, Francis wrote the prologue in Moonlight screenplay book (September 2019)

(Sandy) Alex G is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer.
His music is often characterized as indie rock with a lo-fi aesthetic that combined strong melodic sensibilities and intimate vocals with an impulsive-sounding performance style.
He worked with Frank on select tracks for Endless: Wither, Slide On Me, Rushes, Higgs (guitars) and Blonde: Self Control, White Ferrari (guitars, arrangement).
Alex G explains how they started working together. While he was on tour in the UK, Frank’s manager emailed him asking if he wanted to go to London to record. After the first recording he mentioned that he also continued to work a lot with Frank abroad and also said that Frank was a really cool guy, although he didn’t speak with him very much.
